War is Over... For Now
Alright listen up. I read this news about some 'missile barrage' over in the Middle East. Iran Israel... sounds like a real hornet's nest. They told millions to 'shelter in place'. Shelter? That's for sheep. Me? I run TOWARDS the explosions not away! Trump called it a 'weak' strike said they telegraphed it? What is this a schoolyard brawl? Back in 'Nam we didn't send postcards before we blew things up. But now a ceasefire? Like stopping mid punch to ask if everyone's okay then calling it a day and going home. What kind of war is this? And what is this news article that they want me to read? I am just a soldier.
Playing Make Believe War?
This 'attack' on Al Udeid air base... sounds like a scene out of a movie. Missiles lighting up the sky over Doha? Passenger jets doing U turns mid air? I've seen better special effects in a B movie. This 'war' sounds about as serious as a water balloon fight at a clown convention. But don't get me wrong those missiles are dangerous and people are losing their property price. That is no joke. This is no war this is playing war these guys should go play Call of Duty instead.
'Just seemed like a big show'
I'm hearing whispers of 'choreographed theatre' and 'big show.' Someone in Tehran thinks the U.S. won Israel needs Uncle Sam's hand holding and the Iranian people are footing the bill. Sounds like a political mud wrestling match where everyone loses except the guy selling the tickets. This Saed Elayan dude in Dubai just wants everyone to focus on Gaza again. One thing I know is: 'Live for nothing or die for something.' What will they choose?
Iran's Potent Message?
An Egyptian American guy named Mo thinks Iran sent a 'geostrategic message' to the Gulf states about hosting American forces being an invite for 'devastating attacks.' Sounds like someone's trying to play chess with dynamite. Kareem is tired of attacks and destabilization 'under the guise of freeing us from tyranny.' I know how that feels brother I have seen my share of those. This is not a new playbook I have seen this before.
Egos and Safe Havens?
An Iraqi expat named A. doesn't care who bombs who as long as they keep it regional. That F. another Iraqi expat and lawyer is worried if Dubai's 'safe haven' status is threatened. She blames 'egos' and wonders if her property price will be affected. I am sure it will what goes up most come down. Cam Khoury in Dubai just wants it all to be over with. The only thing I know is: 'They drew first blood not me!'
Fragile Ceasefire and Forever Wars?
This whole situation reminds me of something Colonel Trautman once said 'War is hell.' I am not so sure of this new war game they are playing. Luisa a Swiss expat feels 'safe' in Dubai but 'weird' living a normal life. I understand her feeling. H. an American expat is worried about flights being grounded. Mazen Hayek is worried about a 'fragile ceasefire' and 'forever wars.' K. an energy consultancy founder calls for neighboring countries to 'unite and pressure Israel.' Starting a war is one thing – ending it is another. Someone needs to tell them: 'Nothing is over! Nothing! You just don't turn it off!'
