They Drew First Blood...With a Lawsuit!
Alright listen up. Word on the street – or should I say in the jungle of Wall Street – is that Disney just snagged full control of Hulu. Loop Capital's calling it a major win slapping a $130 price target on Disney's stock. These Wall Street guys they talk a lot but sometimes they're right. This Gould fella thinks Disney's gonna make a killing. Seems like Disney stared down Comcast in this Hulu mess and Comcast blinked. Remember 'To survive a war you gotta become war.' Disney's becoming war with these streaming services!
Comcast's Billion Dollar Boondoggle
Disney just paid Comcast another $438.7 million to shut the door on Hulu. Now get this they were looking at a potential $5 billion payout. That's enough to buy a whole lotta M60 machine guns or maybe a small country. Disney dodged a freakin' ICBM of a lawsuit. They already coughed up $8.6 billion for Comcast's share. That's a lotta greenbacks even for a company as big as Disney. 'Nothing is over!' And Disney wants it all when it comes to streaming.
Integration: Pain is Only Temporary
Gould the Loop Capital analyst says this means Disney can now fully integrate Hulu into Disney+ and ESPN. Think of it like patching up a wound in the jungle. Gotta clean it out stitch it up and get back in the fight. He figures Hulu's worth about $500 per subscriber. 'Live for nothing or die for something.' These subscribers are worth fighting for apparently.
July 24th: Judgement Day for Streaming Rivals
The deal's supposed to be finalized around July 24th. Mark that date on your calendars because that's when Disney's gonna unleash its full force. Disney's stock is already creeping up nearly 4% this year. Not bad for a company that's been through the wringer. 'They're all expendable.' Except maybe Mickey Mouse; he seems to be sticking around for a while.
Analysts: Disney's Got the Green Light!
Looks like most of the suits on Wall Street are betting on Disney. Out of 33 analysts 26 are saying 'buy' or 'strong buy'. That's a lot of thumbs up even for a company that owns half the movies ever made. 'Don't push it! Don't push it or I'll give you a war you won't believe!' Disney's pushing into streaming and they're ready for war.
Remember This
Comcast owns NBCUniversal the parent company of CNBC. Just remember that when you hear these analysts talk. 'Now I want you to let them know that Rambo is coming and that death is coming with him!' Well Rambo is here and that Disney is coming and is looking to be the top in the streaming business.
