Getty's Got a Beef? More Like a Bomb!

Okay people Jinx here! I heard there's some REAL mayhem brewin' in the art world and you KNOW I had to check it out. Apparently Getty Images – you know the place with all the super serious totally not explodable pictures – is MAD. Like 'Pow Pow' mad. They're throwin' down millions of dollars on a lawsuit against Stability AI. Why? Because they think Stability AI is using their copyrighted images to train their AI art generators. Seriously? That's like my kind of crazy! 'Rules are made to be broken'... especially when they're boring!

Stealing Art? Or Just Being Resourceful?

So Getty's CEO Craig Peters is all like 'They're stealing our stuff! It's unfair competition! Waaah!' He says these AI companies are taking copyrighted material building their fancy AI models and then using those models to uh make MORE art. Which is apparently a big no no. But come on where's the fun in playing nice? If you can't blow it up remix it! I mean Piltover's always takin' stuff from Zaun right? It's called progress... or you know a little bit of 'borrowing'.

Innovation vs. Infringement: Pick Your Poison!

Getty claims that if AI companies have to PAY for the images it'll 'kill innovation.' To which I say: 'BOOORING!' Everything is more fun when it's dangerous. Mr. Peters says they're 'battling a world of rhetoric.' Sounds like a perfect opportunity for some good ol' fashioned vandalism dontcha think? I mean who needs rhetoric when you've got rockets?

Millions of Images Millions of Problems!

Getty's suing Stability AI in the U.K. and the U.S. claiming they copied like TWELVE MILLION images without asking! Talk about a massive art heist! Stability AI's all like 'Nah we're good. It's 'fair use'.' They say they're adding 'new expression' to the images. Which let's be honest they probably are. I bet their AI art is way more interesting than anything Getty's got. Imagine a picture of Caitlyn with a rocket launcher! Now THAT'S art!

Expensive Explosions: Getty's War Chest!

Turns out suing people is expensive. Even Getty can't go after everyone who uses their images without permission. They're spending 'millions and millions of dollars' on this one case alone! All that money just to stop some AI from making art? That sounds like a serious waste of perfectly good materials for... other things. Think of all the glitter bombs I could make with that cash!

The Jury's Still Out: Will Art Survive?

So the case is headed to trial and everyone's waiting to see who wins. Getty thinks they have a 'very strong' case but they also admit they don't even know where the AI training took place. Sounds like a recipe for chaos! Honestly I don't care who wins as long as something explodes. Maybe if Getty and Stability AI just had a good old fashioned paint fight we could all go home happy. After all 'Here comes... chaos!'
