Music City No More? Fortune and Glory!

Alright folks gather 'round! Your favorite archaeologist Indiana Jones reporting live from… Nashville Tennessee? I know I know sounds like I've traded my fedora for a cowboy hat but trust me this place is more than just country tunes and honky tonks these days. They say it's not the years honey it's the mileage. And Nashville? This city's racking up mileage faster than my old Ford on a treasure hunt! Turns out this 'Music City' has morphed into a bona fide metropolis faster than you can say 'snakes why did it have to be snakes?'.

The Tech Temple of Tennessee

Apparently while I was busy dodging boulders and Nazis Nashville was busy luring tech giants like Amazon and Oracle. Oracle's building a $1.4 billion campus and Amazon's gobbling up office space like it's the last can of beans in a desert oasis. And why you ask? According to some Amazon VP Holly Sullivan Tennessee and Nashville have 'business friendly policies.' Well slap my saddle and call me Short Round that's code for 'we'll give you tax breaks that would make even Belloq jealous!'

The Eldridge Enigma

This John Eldridge fella head honcho at E3 Construction Services says it's not just the money money money (always sunny in a rich man's world). No apparently it's the 'climate' and 'culture' and 'location.' Right. Because who wouldn't want to swap the Pyramids for… well let's be honest Nashville's got a certain charm. Though I still prefer the company of ancient artifacts to spreadsheets.

Raiders of the Lost Job Market

This tech boom isn't just about big buildings and corporate egos. Nah it's brought jobs baby! According to some report tech jobs in Nashville jumped 17% between 2017 and 2022. That's a lot of people trading their guitars for keyboards but I can’t help but wonder if anyone is playing the blues about it.

The 10 Year Crusade

Turns out Nashville's been playing the long game with a 10 year strategy updated every decade. Since 1990 they've supposedly created over 600,000 jobs and boosted per capita income by a whopping 234%! Now that's what I call a treasure worth finding! All this makes me wish I had thought of real estate instead of Archaeology then again X never ever marks the spot.

The Housing Horror Show

Now here's where the temple starts to crumble. All this growth has led to a real estate frenzy and Nashville's struggling to keep up with affordable housing. It seems even in the heartland some treasures are getting locked away by the very people who are benefitting from it. So while Nashville might be striking gold not everyone's getting a piece of the action. Some people are not in it for the treasure.
