Another Ring World?

Alright listen up. Master Chief here. Just got word that OpenAI Oracle Nvidia and Cisco are teaming up to build some kind of super AI campus in the UAE. They're calling it 'Stargate.' Sounds ominous doesn't it? Last time I heard about a 'gate,' it was usually followed by a flood of nasty aliens trying to wipe out humanity. But hey maybe this time it'll be different. Maybe. 'We’ll be long dead before the Covenant reach Earth.' Yeah famous last words Johnson.

Nvidia's Got the Chips

Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang is all hyped up about it. He says AI is the 'most transformative force of our time.' Right. Just like the Flood was a transformative force in turning people into grotesque monsters. Guess it all depends on your perspective. Apparently Nvidia's throwing in the chips (literally) to power this thing. I hope they've got some good cooling systems. Don't want another Red Ring of Death situation on our hands... or in the hands of Skynet 2.0.

Trump's AI Deals

Turns out even Trump is involved. He was schmoozing in the Middle East making deals left and right. Now he’s gone. Wonder how long this AI Project will be running... Hopefully longer than his presidency. 'If we don't make it tell them to make it count.' That's what I tell Cortana before every mission. Maybe someone should tell that to the folks building this thing.

G42: Friend or Foe?

This Emirati firm G42 is apparently in charge of the whole shebang. Ten square miles 5 gigawatts of power. Sounds like a prime target for the Covenant. Or the Banished. Or you know rogue AI. OpenAI and Oracle are supposedly managing a 1 gigawatt compute cluster built by G42. I hope they've got some decent firewalls. Last thing we need is another Cortana situation.

Promises Promises

OpenAI is saying this project 'reinforces [their] commitment to strengthening U.S. infrastructure while helping allies gain access to transformative AI responsibly and securely.' Responsible and secure huh? That's what they all say before the robots take over. Just saying I've seen this movie before. It usually ends with me blowing something up.

Another Gamble for Humanity?

This is supposed to be the first international version of some multi billion dollar AI project. They're throwing around numbers like $100 billion and $500 billion. All that money and they couldn't spring for a decent energy sword? Look I'm just a soldier. My job is to follow orders and protect humanity. But I can't help but wonder if this 'Stargate' project is going to save us or doom us. Either way I'll be ready. Just wake me when you need me. 'I need a weapon.'
