Wake Me When You Need Me...To Mine Coal?!

Alright folks Master Chief here. Heard some chatter about...coal? Apparently the U.S. needs more of the black stuff to power up all those AI data centers and other energy guzzling gizmos. Energy Secretary Chris Wright seems to think we need to halt the coal plant closures. Seriously? I've faced down the Flood the Covenant and now...the coal lobby? Sometimes I wonder if the Great Journey was just a really long trip to a power plant.

Trump Card: Coal as a 'Critical Mineral'

So the current administration is planning to classify coal as a 'critical mineral.' Sounds like something you'd find on Installation 04 right? The plan is to let federal agencies dig up coal on federal land and fast track the mining leases. President Trump wants a 25% boost in electricity. I guess he figures 'We'll burn that bridge when we get to it,' or in this case burn that coal. He even mentioned using emergency powers to speed up building power plants for those data centers. Coal as a backup? Next thing you know they'll be using Grunt Birthday Party confetti to fuel generators.

Coal's Got a Fever and the Only Prescription Is More Coal!

Wright who used to run an oilfield company says we need all the 'reliable affordable secure sources' we can get and apparently coal is one of them. Well I always say 'Never leave a man behind,' but I'm not sure that applies to 19th century energy sources. Trump even told the World Economic Forum that they can use whatever fuel they want including coal as a backup power source. Sounds like someone's playing 'Risk' with the planet's resources.

From 51% to 16%? That's a Spartan II Decline!

Now here's a fun fact: coal used to generate 51% of U.S. electricity back in 2001. Now it's down to 16% in 2023. Natural gas stole coal's lunch money. And guess what? Coal spits out way more carbon dioxide than gas. It's like comparing a plasma pistol to a Needler in terms of environmental impact. One's slightly better but both will give you a headache.

This is a developing story they say. Sounds like another Covenant plot to me. First they steal our rings then they try to make us burn more coal. Where does it end? I'm starting to think the Elites were right about something…just not sure what yet. Need a weapon? This coal isn't it.
