A disastrous flood in Texas Hill Country leaves a trail of devastation, missing children, and questions about preparedness. It's like a swamp, but with more water and less ogre!

Hold On I Gotta Tell Ya: What Happened?!

Alright alright settle down y'all! Donkey's on the scene! Lemme tell ya things in Texas are wetter than Shrek after a mud bath. This crazy storm came outta nowhere like Puss in Boots doing the Fandango and caused a HUGE flood in the Texas Hill Country. We're talkin' biblical proportions people! At least 27 folks including nine kids are now swimmin' with the fishes and a whole lotta others are still missin'. It's like a bad dream only you're awake... and soggy.

26 Feet?! That's Higher Than Dragon's Tower!

This Guadalupe River decided to throw a hissy fit risin' 26 feet in less than an hour! Imagine tryin' to outrun that! It's like tryin' to outrun Dragon when she's hungry only instead of fiery breath it's just... wetness everywhere. Homes washed away cars turned into boats (the unintended kind) and folks were left clingin' to anything they could find. Talk about a 'shrek' tacular mess!

Camp Mystic? More Like Camp 'Missing'!

Apparently a bunch of kiddos were hangin' out at Camp Mystic a summer camp that's now anything BUT mystic. They say over two dozen are still unaccounted for! This is worse than when Shrek loses his temper and everyone scatters. Search teams are out there like knights on a quest lookin' for these young'uns. Helicopters boats drones – they're usin' the whole enchilada! Let's hope they find 'em soon 'cause this Donkey's heart is breakin' faster than a gingerbread man in a cookie factory!

Where Were the Warnings?! Were They on Vacation?!

Now here's where things get stinkier than Shrek's swamp after a week of rain. Apparently some weather folks sent out warnings about potential flooding but it seems like nobody paid attention! Like when I try to warn Shrek about something and he just grunts. Officials are sayin' they didn't expect *that* much rain. Well duh! Nobody expects THAT much water! But maybe just maybe a little more preparation could have saved some lives. Just sayin'...

Heroes and Heartbreak: The Rescue Mission

Amidst all the gloom and doom there are stories of heroes folks riskin' their necks to save others. Soldiers carryin' folks to safety families reuniting and neighbors helpin' neighbors. But there's also heartbreak. Parents searchin' for their kids survivors clingin' to trees and the knowledge that things will never be quite the same. It's enough to make a Donkey cry... and I don't cry easy!

So What Now? The Long Road Ahead...

The clean up is gonna be HUGE bigger than Shrek's appetite after a long day of swamp trompin'. Folks are gonna need help both material and emotional. Remember even in the darkest of times there's always hope. And if you need a friend just remember I'm here. Donkey's here for ya ready with a song a dance and maybe even a waffle (if I can find one that's not soggy). And remember folks be prepared! You never know when life is going to throw ya curveballs or you know torrential downpours.
