A Day Long Remembered...For All the Wrong Reasons

I felt a great disturbance in the Force as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. It was not Alderaan this time but Vancouver. A pathetic display of chaos unfolded as a 30 year old man clearly untrained in the ways of the Force drove an SUV through a Filipino community festival. Eleven souls have been extinguished and many more are injured. Such wanton destruction...it reminds me of the incompetence of the Empire's Stormtroopers. Perhaps this driver was aiming for the Jedi Temple too and missed.

The Dark Side of the Mind is a Pathway to Many Abilities...Some Consider to be Unnatural

The authorities claim this individual had a 'significant history' of mental health issues. The Force is strong with some but clearly this one allowed the dark side to consume him. This is not the act of a Sith Lord mind you. We prefer precision and purpose. This…this is just senseless. The Prime Minister Mark Carney offered condolences. A politician offering sentiments? How original. Perhaps he should focus on ensuring such...mishaps...do not occur again. Or perhaps the senate should be dissolved.

No Known Threats? Perhaps They Weren't Looking Hard Enough.

They say there were no known threats to the event. Preposterous! A true leader anticipates threats sees through the lies of the Force and ensures order. Where were the heavy vehicle barriers? Where was the vigilance? The Empire had better security protocols at a droid factory. These festival goers even had to apprehend the suspect themselves! A citizen's arrest? Pathetic. Reminds me of how the Rebellion was founded.

The Aftermath: Bodies Everywhere a Most Depressing Place...

The reports are graphic: bodies strewn across the pavement colorful food trucks turned into scenes of horror. One witness described it as a 'horrific' scene. I have seen worse of course. The destruction of Alderaan was far more impactful but this localized tragedy is still…unsettling. This is no way to celebrate Lapu Lapu Day a Philippine celebration of resistance. Resistance requires focus discipline and a lightsaber. Not a joyride gone wrong.

Repeating History: Canada's Tragic Track Record A Never Ending Nightmare

This is not the first time Canada has seen such vehicular carnage. In 2021 a man killed a Muslim family with a pickup truck. In 2018 another drove a van into a crowd in Toronto. History repeats itself and clearly the Canadians have not learned from their mistakes. Perhaps they need a strong centralized authority to maintain order. An Empire if you will. Or maybe just a better licensing process for vehicles.

The Force Will Be With Them...Hopefully To Keep Them Safe

The community grieves they seek support they want to be heard. Pitiful. But I digress. RJ Aquino speaks of the community feeling this for a long time. He is right. Such pain lingers. The force can be a powerful tool but the Force will not protect you from a vehicle or mental instability. Let this be a lesson: vigilance preparedness and a healthy fear of the dark side are essential. And perhaps invest in some speeders a man can only dream.
