A Disturbance in the Coffee...

I felt a great disturbance in the Force as if millions of venti lattes suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. It appears Starbucks a purveyor of caffeinated beverages has reported… *shudders*… weaker than expected earnings. This news is most unwelcome. CEO Brian Niccol speaks of a "Back to Starbucks" plan. Perhaps they should call it "Back to the Drawing Board". Failure is not an option. Unless of course they wish to experience the full power of the dark side.

Automated Droids I Find Your Lack of Faith Disturbing

It seems the path to efficiency once paved with dreams of automated coffee making droids is being re evaluated. They are scaling back their plans and investing more in… *gulps*… labor. This is a risky maneuver. Trusting fallible organics instead of precise machines? I sense a trap! They claim earnings per share are not a measure of success at this stage. I find their lack of financial foresight disturbing.

Tariffs: A Pathway to Many Abilities Some Consider to Be Unnatural

Ah tariffs. A tool of economic warfare wielded by the… *coughs*… President. These conflicts they say will affect coffee beans. About 10% to 15% of Starbucks' product and distribution costs come from green coffee. CFO Cathy Smith has joined the company and must mitigate this situation. It seems they are “monitoring the situation.” Monitoring? They should be preemptively crushing the competition! Use your aggressive feelings Starbucks! Let the hate flow through you!

The Empire Strikes Back (at Operating Margins)

Their operating margin has plummeted! A grave sign. Spending more on labor and less on equipment… this is not the way. It is no longer planning to deploy its Cold Pressed Cold Brew system. What is this? Rebellion? They have paused the rollout of equipment used to heat food Niccol said. They claim this will “improve throughput and connection.” I suggest they invest in better blasters instead. Efficiency is key to galactic domination and lukewarm croissants are an affront to the senses.

Same Store Sales: These Aren't the Droids You're Looking For

Same store sales have fallen for the fifth straight quarter. Consumers seek cheaper options apparently. The Force is weak with these customers. They should be compelled to pay for quality! Niccol wants to complete every order in four minutes or less. Pathetic! A Sith Lord can force choke a protocol droid in half that time. They need to complete every order in less than 12 parsecs. The plan has included layoffs for its white collar workers. Perhaps they should join the dark side we have cookies… and better healthcare.

A New Hope (for Better Seating)

Starbucks plans to improve its cafes with better seating and "premium touches." This is their grand strategy? Throwing money at uncomfortable chairs? "Premium touches" will not compensate for weak profits. They also plan to overhaul its innovation process and improve the customer experience by fixing staffing levels standards and the algorithm that tells baristas what drinks to make. They must fix these operational failures or feel the full weight of the dark side and the empire's wrath. May the Force be with them… they’ll need it.

I used to go to Starbucks every day, but now I find myself going somewhere else. It just isn't worth it anymore.
