A Little Experimentation a Little Anarchy
Greetings Gotham—err London! It seems the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) those lovely control freaks have decided to play nice with Nvidia. They're building a 'Supercharged Sandbox' for banks to 'safely' experiment with AI. Safe? Ha! As if anything truly innovative comes without a touch of beautiful chaos. Why so serious about AI Britain? Let's put a smile on that face!
October's Very Own Surprise
Starting this October these upstanding financial institutions get to fiddle with Nvidia's goodies—accelerated computing and AI Enterprise Software. Sounds… thrilling? It's meant for those 'discovery and experiment phase' types. You know the ones who haven't quite figured out how to use AI to say redistribute wealth in a *more interesting* fashion. The FCA even has a 'live testing service' for the slightly more advanced players. Oh the anticipation!
Capabilities Schmapabilities!
Jessica Rusu some data something or other at the FCA bleats on about helping firms 'harness AI to benefit markets and consumers.' Benefit? Please! It’s all about control baby! Like I always say it's not about the money; it's about sending a message. And the message is: 'We're watching you… experiment.'
The Privacy Circus
Ah privacy. The sacred cow everyone pretends to care about. Apparently banks are worried about sending all that sweet sweet data back to the OpenAI and Google overlords. Privacy regulators are waving their arms hyperventilating about 'how this information is stored and processed.' As if they could actually stop anything! It's all part of the act darling. The grand illusion.
Scam Artists and Silicon
Of course there's the obligatory hand wringing over 'malicious actors' using generative AI to scam people. As if scamming is a new invention! It's just evolving like everything else. And Nvidia bless their little silicon hearts is behind the very GPUs that power these magnificent AI models. Jensen Huang the big cheese at Nvidia even gave a speech. I bet it was mind numbingly boring. But hey gotta keep up appearances right?
Success Theater: A Clown Show
And let’s not forget HSBC's generative AI lead Edward Achtner (whoever that is) who called it all "a lot of success theater." Bingo! He hints that some of these financial bozos are just talking the talk without any real tangible… chaos. They've been using AI for ages apparently but these shiny new generative AI tools come with 'unique compliance risks.' Risks are fun! Embrace them! It's all part of the game isn't it? And I for one am ready to play.
Sonlar
Nvidia is going to make a killing off this.
