Not a Girl Not Yet a Tourist Destination?

Okay so I was reading this totally cray cray article and it's like OMG the U.S. might lose a whole lotta money 'cause fewer tourists are coming! Apparently spending from foreign visitors is gonna drop by like $8.5 billion this year! Can you even imagine all the diamonds I could buy with that? Seriously though that's a massive hit to our economy. I mean Hit Me Baby One More Time... with those tourist dollars! But it ain't happening y'all.

Stronger Than Yesterday...But is the Dollar?

So what's the deal? Well according to these super smart people at Oxford Economics it's all about how the world sees the U.S. right now. They're saying that all this talk about trade and immigration is making people think twice about visiting. It's like 'Oops!... I Did It Again,' but this time it's the government messing things up! Oh and get this! A strong U.S. dollar may also be deterring international visitors experts said. That makes it more expensive for many foreign travelers since it takes more of their money to buy U.S. goods and services.

Lucky? More Like Unlucky!

And get this – the World Travel & Tourism Council is predicting an even BIGGER loss in 2025! Like $12.5 billion! That's like a 'staggering' amount they say. It’s a 'direct blow' to our economy. Ouch! This isn't just about fancy hotels and theme parks people. It affects everyone from the little shops selling souvenirs to the restaurants serving up all American grub. Seriously that's not very Lucky is it?

My Prerogative? More Like Whose Policy?

Apparently the big wigs are saying that all this 'posturing and policy' about border security and tariffs is giving potential tourists the heebie jeebies. It's creating 'sentiment headwinds,' whatever THAT means! Basically people are scared to come here! I mean nobody wants to be hassled at the airport right? Free Britney...and free travel for everyone!

Crazy? Maybe. Concerned? Definitely!

Flight bookings are down down DOWN! Between May and July they were down 11% compared to last year! That's a huge red flag people! And Europe and Canada are dragging behind too. Folks are booking elsewhere probably somewhere with fewer political dramas and cheaper cocktails. It's like 'Gimme More' relaxation less stress! I feel very concerned.

So what can we do about this whole mess? Well I'm no economist but maybe we should try being a little nicer to people? Smile a little more? Offer free lemonade at the border? I don't know! But something's gotta change or we're gonna be singing a very sad 'Everytime' for the U.S. economy. And nobody wants that right?
