A Shadow Lengthens Over Tesla

Hoom! Gandalf here reporting from a land where dragons are electric and fortunes rise and fall faster than the Eagles can fly to Mordor. News has reached my pointy hat that Elon Musk he of Tesla and many other shiny trinkets is seemingly pulling back from his role in President Trump's Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE as they call it. Seems our Elon much like a certain ring bearer is finding the burden too heavy. 'Not all those who wander are lost,' but I fear young Musk may be losing his way amidst the swirling mists of politics and plummeting stock prices!

The Eagle Deserts Its Eyrie?

Musk who flung nearly $300 million into the maw of the 2024 campaign to return Trump to the White House now claims his involvement with DOGE will dwindle come May. He promises to keep a 'day or two per week' tethered to government matters but one wonders is this a strategic retreat like the Rohirrim falling back to Helm's Deep? Or perhaps he's merely realized that 'it is not our part to master all the tides of the world but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set uprooting the evil in the fields that we know so that those who live after may have clean earth to till.' In other words fix Tesla first eh?

The Numbers Tell a Grim Tale

Alas the tidings from Tesla are not merry. A 20% plunge in automotive revenue and a staggering 71% drop in net income darken the horizon. One does not simply walk into Mordor and one does not easily dismiss such financial woes. Could it be that Musk's eye was too keenly focused on the affairs of state while his own kingdom crumbled about him? I seem to recall similar failings in the stewards of Gondor.

Protests and Problems My Precious

And as if financial storms weren't enough Tesla faces a tempest of protests in both the U.S. and Europe. Musk like Denethor before him cries foul claiming these dissenters are fueled by 'fraudulent money' and 'wasteful largesse.' A bold claim indeed! Yet methinks a good leader looks inward first before casting blame upon others. 'Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.'

DOGE: A Savings Scheme or a Shadow Play?

DOGE boasts of $160 billion in savings achieved through cuts across various governmental agencies. But these figures like the prophecies of old are shrouded in mystery and challenged by skeptics. And while DOGE touts its achievements Tesla has seen roughly $600 billion vanish from its market capitalization. Coincidence? Perhaps. But as they say in the Shire 'There's more than one way to skin a Warg.'

A Wizard's Final Word

So what are we to make of all this? Is Musk abandoning a sinking ship or merely readjusting his course? Time as ever will tell. But remember even the mightiest of empires can crumble if their foundations are not sound. And as I always say 'Fly you fools!' ... but perhaps not *too* far from your responsibilities at Tesla eh?
