A Surprise to Be Sure But a Welcome One

I have sensed a disturbance in the Force... a disturbance in the financial Force! Netflix like the Emperor's grasp on the galaxy has exceeded expectations. Their revenue a staggering $10.54 billion has crushed the measly $10.52 billion predicted by Wall Street's so called experts. It appears their vision is as cloudy as a Dagobah swamp. Their earnings per share $6.61 further prove their dominance. Perhaps they have found the Dark Side of accounting...

The Price of Power... and Streaming

Like the Death Star Netflix requires vast resources. To fuel their empire they have... *ahem*... adjusted their pricing. A standard plan now costs $17.99 the ad supported plan a mere $7.99 and the premium experience a hefty $24.99. Some might call this extortion. I call it strategic acquisition of resources! After all maintaining an iron grip on entertainment requires funds wouldn't you agree? Don't choke on your popcorn because of the increase in prices. It will be worse than the price I had to pay to transform into Darth Vader!

Subscriber Data? I Find Your Lack of Transparency Disturbing

Interesting. Netflix has ceased disclosing quarterly subscriber data. They claim a shift in strategy focusing on revenue and financial metrics. Is this transparency fading to the dark side? Or are they simply hiding something? Only time and the Force will reveal their true intentions. Perhaps they should hire an accountant who is able to make the numbers more...palatable for the masses.

Turbulent Times in the Galaxy... of Media

Traditional media companies tremble as Netflix stands tall. Stocks are plummeting due to President Trump's trade policies leaving them vulnerable. Netflix however remains unshaken. 'There's been no material change to our overall business outlook,' they claim. Confidence or arrogance? It is difficult to tell at this stage for the Jedi are nowhere to be found to clarify the situation.

Is the Force Strong with Netflix?

Netflix continues to flex its financial muscles. The Force is strong with this one it would seem. As they increase prices shift focus from subscription numbers and power through media turmoil one thing is certain: the streaming wars continue! My question for them is can they survive what is yet to come? Time will tell or perhaps I will see in my dreams with the help of the Force.
