Kennedy Jr. the new big cheese at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is makin' moves... and not the kinda moves that’ll make ya wanna shout 'Yo Adrian I did it!'. Word on the street – and in the news is he's choppin' away at programs designed to help minority and underserved communities get the healthcare they need. Talk about a knockout punch to folks already down for the count!

Gettin' Gutted Like a Fish!

Now I ain't no fancy doctor but I know a jab to the gut when I see one. This Kennedy dude is supposedly slicin' and dicin' at least seven minority health offices across HHS. Layoffs are happenin' left and right with entire teams and their bosses gettin' the boot. We talkin' about the HHS Office of Minority Health the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) – the whole shebang! It's like he's turnin' these places into ghost towns. 'If I can change and you can change everybody can change!' But maybe not for the better huh?

Knockin' Out Progress Since '76!

Health experts are yellin' from the rooftops that these cuts could send us back to the Stone Age when it comes to health equality. Years of progress poof gone! It's like climbin' those steps at the Art Museum only to find out they're greased with Crisco. We’re talkin' about folks of color rural communities low income families people with disabilities – the folks who already get the short end of the stick. The pandemic showed us how these disparities can hit hard and now this? It’s like “Yo pandemic round two!”

The Billion Dollar Uppercut!

Now some might say 'Rocky what's the big deal?' Well I'll tell ya! A study said that health disparities cost the U.S. economy a whopping $451 billion in 2018 alone! That's like throwin' a knockout punch to our wallets! Kennedy says he's tryin' to make HHS more 'efficient,' but this ain't the way to do it. It's like tryin' to fix a broken nose with a sledgehammer. Maybe he should remember 'It ain't about how hard you can hit but about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.'

From 40 to Zero: A Real Philly Massacre!

Here's where it gets real ugly Adrian. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of Minority Health? Gone! All 40 staff members laid off! The CDC? Nearly wiped out! The FDA? Same thing! It's like Kennedy's usin' a meat cleaver instead of a scalpel. And get this – they’re tryin' to 'reconstitute' some of these offices with like one or two people. That’s not a team that's a lonely hearts club! This whole thing smells worse than a gym sock after a 15 rounder.
