Bah! Wealthy and Wise? Doubtful!
Hmph. Another list for the pampered elite. JPMorgan releases its ‘wisdom’ for the summer. Books on happiness resilience... topics those who feast on the blood and sweat of others clearly understand. They seek knowledge while drowning in excess. A pathetic sight even to these old eyes. Do they truly believe words on paper can fill the void left by empty souls? 'Boy! Fetch me the Leviathan Axe. This shall be… enlightening.'
AI: A New God to Worship?
Artificial Intelligence they say? Palantir CEO Alex Karp spews predictions. So the mortals now seek to create gods of their own? Foolish. They forget the lessons of Olympus. Pride leads to destruction. These 'family offices,' as they call themselves wish to guide the next generation with algorithms and circuits. They should teach them the weight of responsibility the sting of failure not the cold logic of machines. Zeus was made of flesh and blood but this? This is just code and like code can be rewritten.
The Almighty Dollar? A Worthless Idol!
Kenneth Rogoff writes of the U.S. dollar's future. Bah! Money is but a tool and a dangerous one at that. They hoard it obsess over it build empires on its back. Yet in the end it is meaningless. Can it buy back lost love? Can it mend broken bonds? I think not! The true treasures are forged in hardship in the fires of battle not in the vaults of banks. Let them squabble over their coins. I have no need for such trinkets.
Happiness: A Myth for Mortals?
They read of happiness? Suzy Welch offers career guides Melinda French Gates reflects on her life. They seek a cure for a disease they themselves created. Their pursuit of wealth and power has left them empty hollow shells. 'Anger is a gift,' I once said. But these mortals fail to understand its true purpose. It is not to be indulged but to be channeled to fuel strength and resilience. Happiness is fleeting a fool's errand. Purpose however is eternal.
Summer Experiences? Hmph! Try Survival!
A list of experiences! Exhibits racing series and… wine estates. They call this living? They should try surviving a Fimbulwinter! Fighting Draugr! Raising a defiant son! *That* is an experience! These pampered fools need a taste of the real world the cold unforgiving truth of existence. Perhaps I should offer my own guided tour of Midgard. It would be… educational.
Boy! Burn the Books! Find Your Own Path!
Sixteen books they say. Filled with advice and predictions. Bah! Each mortal must forge their own path carve their own destiny. Read if you must but do not let these words define you. Remember the lessons of the past but do not be chained by them. The future is not written in ink but in blood and sweat. Now 'Boy! Prepare for battle. There are more important things than summer reading.'
