Hmph Another Mouth to Feed
Toyota after a pathetic twenty five years of dabbling with hybrids now seeks 'growth' in these so called plug in hybrid electric vehicles. PHEVs they call them. Like some pathetic beast that needs both the carrot and the whip. A beast that thinks it can drive on electricity like Zeus throws lightning bolts for a while and then when its meager reserves are exhausted it whines for gasoline. 'BOY! Do not be fooled; they're still reliant on the fumes of the Underworld!'
Renaissance of Weakness
These PHEVs aren't new. Toyota's been peddling them since 2016 but now they see a 'renaissance' as if failure can be reborn into glory. More like a slow agonizing return of a defeated warrior crawling back to the battlefield. They claim it's to meet fuel economy standards. Hah! The gods demand efficiency not excuses. It's also meant to be a 'steppingstone' to full electric vehicles. As if mortals need training wheels to embrace the inevitable.
Twenty Percent? Pitiful
David Christ some mortal head of Toyota speaks of growing PHEV volume aiming for 20% of U.S. sales by 2030. Twenty percent? Even Atreus could aim higher! They blame regulations customer acceptance and affordability. Excuses all excuses. If a warrior fears the battle he is already defeated. Toyota must show strength not cower before consumer whims.
Regulatory Chaos: A Familiar Foe
Their expansion comes amid regulatory uncertainty and slow adoption of all electric vehicles. Uncertainty? Chaos? I've thrived in worse. Let the mortals squabble over rules; a true warrior forges his own path. They speak of President Donald Trump an individual whom i do not know or care about and his desires to eliminate the Air Resources Board’s rules. More distractions. Focus on the goal not the shifting sands beneath your feet.
The Price of Weakness
The EV only range of these contraptions has improved reaching a meager 50 miles on vehicles like the RAV4. Fifty miles? I could run further before breakfast! And these PHEVs are costly. 'Like getting two cars in one,' they say. More like paying for two halves of a car that only amounts to one mediocre machine. Sam Fiorani speaks of buyers not opting for PHEVs unless forced. Let them be forced! Sometimes mortals need a guiding hand even if it's a fist.
Hybrid or Abomination?
Cooper Ericksen compares their approach to having bases loaded in baseball. 'ICE hybrid plug in hybrid EV,' he lists. Such complexity. Simplify! Power is power regardless of its source. He claims PHEVs see a 'massive swing in customer interest' once people understand them. Understanding? Mortals rarely understand anything but perhaps a demonstration of raw power could enlighten them. No seriously BOY! What kind of sport compares technological advancement to BASEBALL that is ridiculous.
