Blimey! Lyft's Gone International!

Right then listen up! Word on the street – or rather soaring through the Floo Network – is that Lyft that American Muggle contraption for getting around is buying Free Now a taxi app in Europe. 175 million euros! That's a lot of Galleons even by Gringotts standards. Apparently it's like 'wingardium leviosa' for Lyft's business lifting them right into Europe. I reckon even Ron would be impressed though he'd probably ask if you can get a chocolate frog with the ride.

The Knight Bus Just Got Competition

Free Now it seems is quite the catch. Owned by BMW and Mercedes Benz – fancy! – and available in over 150 cities. Not just taxis either but e scooters and e bikes! Sounds like something Mr. Weasley would tinker with in the shed trying to add a bit of magic. It's all about those earnings apparently. Earning Before Interest Debt and Amortization...Sounds like a spell Hermione would know!

Uber vs. Lyft: The Next Quidditch Match?

Now here's where things get interesting. This move throws Lyft into the arena with Uber Bolt and Gett. A right royal rumble of ride hailing! It's like Gryffindor facing Slytherin only instead of broomsticks they're battling with… well whatever Muggles use. David Risher the head honcho at Lyft says they're only doing it now because they've finally got their act together. Says things weren't exactly 'Always' perfect when he started. Sounds familiar doesn't it?

From Privet Drive to Piccadilly Circus!

Risher even boasted that pick up times are faster and driver cancellations are down. Good for them! Who wants to be left stranded like I was on Privet Drive waiting for Hagrid? He even claimed their operation in Canada has doubled. Canada! Who knew Muggles were so keen on getting around? I'd always thought they preferred tea and biscuits.

Uber's Had a Head Start? Not on My Watch!

Of course Uber's been in Europe for ages since 2012 causing a bit of a stir. Seems even Muggles have their own version of Fudge and the Ministry with regulators trying to ban Uber. Good thing they got a fresh license eventually or else London would have been overrun with confused tourists and angry black cabs. It would have been chaos I tell you absolute chaos!

Expecto Patronum...For My Ride!

So there you have it. Lyft is taking on Europe! Will they succeed? Will Uber face a challenge worthy of Voldemort himself? Only time will tell. One thing's for sure though: I'll be sticking to my Firebolt. Much faster and no surge pricing on Hallowe'en. Now if you'll excuse me I have a sudden craving for treacle tart.
