Alright alright settle down! Shrek here reporting live from... well from my swamp actually. But I’ve got my ear to the ground see? And what I’m hearing is these fancy new electric contraptions are causing quite a ruckus over in China! Seems these 'Leapmotor' fellas and some other outfit called 'Aito' are selling more cars than you can shake a stick at. It's like they're saying 'Move over Donkey there's a new ride in town!'. Leapmotor backed by Stellantis apparently delivered a whopping 45,067 vehicles in May showing 148% year on year growth while Aito using Huawei tech delivered 44,454 vehicles setting a new record. But hey at least I don't need no fancy electrics to get around just a good pair of legs and maybe a dragon ride now and then.

BYD: The Big Green Electric Ogre of the Industry!

Now don’t go thinking these upstarts are the only ones making a splash. This company called BYD is still stomping around like… well like me after someone's been messing with my swamp! They sold a massive 376,930 cars in May. That’s more than all the gingerbread men in Far Far Away! But BYD's been accused of squeezin' one of their dealers some Jinan Qiansheng fella over cash flow. They said it wasn't true but who knows what's really goin' on? And get this they even slashed prices on some of their cars which caused other car companies to kinda freak out which brings us to...

Price Wars: Shrek's Version of a Mud Fight But With Cars!

Hold on to your onions folks because this is where things get messy. This price war they're talking about is like a mud fight only instead of mud it's… well it’s still probably mud considering where these cars are probably drivin'. Seems like everyone's trying to undercut each other and some folks are worried this might lead to another 'Evergrande' situation. If you don't know who Evergrande is just picture a REALLY big gingerbread man that crumbled into a million pieces. Not pretty!

Xpeng's Ups and Downs: Sometimes You're the Dragon Sometimes You're the Donkey!

Speaking of ups and downs this Xpeng company… their deliveries dipped a little from last month but they’re still bragging about a 230% year on year growth. They’re like Donkey – always optimistic even when things get a little… swampy. 'Cause sometimes even an ogre gotta admit things are more complicated than layers of an onion!

Others Tryna Keep Up: 'I'm Making Waffles!'

Then you’ve got Xiaomi Li Auto Zeekr and Nio. Some are doing okay others are… well let's just say they're not exactly setting the world on fire. Zeekr even tried giving away free driver assistance tech but even that didn't seem to do the trick! As Donkey would say 'I'm making waffles!'...which is about as useful as free tech when you're drowning in competition. But as the article stated Onvo Nio's family oriented smart EV brand had its best month this year making up 6,281 of Nio's total deliveries.

To Far Far Away...Or Not? Expansion Plans Hit a Wall!

Now these Chinese car companies are thinking about going global but the EU and the U.S. are slapping tariffs on them like Shrek slaps mud on his bum. So they might be looking at places like Africa instead. Seems everyone wants a piece of the pie but sometimes that pie is a little hard to reach.
