A Shadow of Trade Looms!
Hoom! Gandalf here reporting from the ever shifting landscapes of Middle earth… err I mean the global economy. It seems even the mighty eagles of Boeing are not immune to the winds of trade wars. Word has reached my pointy hat that Boeing yes the very creators of flying contraptions that dwarf even the Great Eagles might be diverting aircraft originally destined for the Celestial Kingdom. 'A wizard is never late nor is he early he arrives precisely when he means to,' I always say. But even I must admit these delays in aircraft deliveries due to the tariff environment are… concerning.
The Eagle Has Landed… Back in the USA!
Kelly Ortberg the CEO of Boeing (a name that sounds suspiciously like a particularly stubborn breed of dwarf no offense intended!) declared to the talking box – the CNBC they call it – that some 737 Max planes once dreaming of soaring over the Great Wall have been summoned back to the US of A. It appears these metal birds are now seeking new masters a predicament reminiscent of the One Ring seeking a new bearer. 'Not all those who wander are lost,' Tolkien wrote and I would hope the same can be said of these aeronautical wanderers. Where will they find their next home? The suspense is positively dragon ish!
Max imum Opportunity Arises!
Fear not dear readers for it seems the demand for these 'Max' aircraft is as boundless as the Mines of Moria (though hopefully less perilous). Ortberg in a display of dwarvish determination assures us that they will not 'wait too long' nor let this setback 'derail the recovery' of their company. One can only hope they have a Balrog proof plan in place! It seems that there are many nations and customers who seek to acquire these aeronautical steeds. They shall not pass...unless they pay the negotiated price.
Trump's Tariff Tango
Ah the President Trump a character as unpredictable as a hobbit in a high elf tea party. He initially brandished tariffs like a freshly forged sword but now seems to be reconsidering his approach. He deems the 145% tariff on Chinese imports 'very high' and suggests a 'substantial' reduction. This is a most curious game and politics. 'Deeds will not be less valiant because they are unpraised.' Tolkien wrote but it would be nice if more people would stop using swords and shields in this particular game.
A Glimmer of Hope?
Despite the ongoing trade squabbles Boeing has reported a narrower than expected loss and a better than feared cash burn in the first quarter. It seems even in the face of adversity the spirit of innovation and commerce burns bright. Perhaps this is a sign that even the darkest clouds can have a silver lining. 'Hope remains while the company is true.' as one would write.
Stay Tuned Fellow Travelers!
This my friends is a tale still unfolding. Like the journey to Mordor the path ahead is fraught with uncertainty. But fear not for as long as there are wizards to write news articles and eagles to carry us through the skies there is always hope. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears sharp for updates as they come. 'Fly you fools!' towards more information!

Trade wars are never a good idea.

This is why I prefer broomsticks. Much less geopolitical drama.
