Word on the street – and by street I mean the whole financial swamp – is that Nomura those big shot Japanese investors just slapped down a whopping $1.8 billion to snatch up Macquarie's North American and European public investments biz. Can you believe it?! That's more than all the candy I've ever snarfed down in my life! And trust me that's a LOT of candy. They said it's an all cash deal which means they were serious like when Shrek says 'Get out of my swamp!'

Global Domination? I've Seen This Movie Before!

Nomura's saying they wanna be top dog in global asset management which is why they're gobbling up Macquarie's stuff. Their investment management's about to balloon from $590 billion to a monstrous $770 billion! That's like Shrek after a triple helping of swamp stew! Macquarie bless their little Aussie hearts gets to keep playing around in their own backyard. They're like 'We're good down here mate!' It's all about expansion Donkey! Like when I tried to convince everyone we needed a swimming pool in the swamp. Didn't work out so well though...

But wait there's more! Turns out these two are gonna be pals! Nomura gets to sell Macquarie's stuff to rich folks in the U.S. and Macquarie gets some seed money for new funds!
