The Force is strong but the Chinese economy faces turbulent times. Vice Premier He Lifeng like a desperate politician from Alderaan attempts to reassure foreign business leaders. He promises continued market openness and welcomes investment from multinational corporations. These are bold claims especially considering the Emperor's... I mean Beijing's recent economic performance. It is as if they're saying 'These are not the droids you're looking for' when faced with their economic woes.

The meeting included top executives from Apple Pfizer Mastercard Eli Lilly and others. It seems even these galactic giants are tempted by the dark side... I mean the Chinese market. He Lifeng insists that China's economy is "resilient full of potential and vitality." I find their lack of faith in the Emperor disturbing... or in this case the Chinese Communist Party. Perhaps these CEOs can provide the power to save the Emperor from himself.

Premier Li Qiang channeling his inner Obi Wan Kenobi calls for countries to open their markets and urges entrepreneurs to be "staunch defenders and promoters of globalization." He must know that if China continues down its current path it will truly be 'a wretched hive of scum and villainy.' But does he have the strength to pull China back from the dark side? They are likely attempting to seduce these companies with promises of riches and power. We shall see if they accept and ultimately discover the true nature of their alliance.
