Another Fine Mess
I have spoken. Looks like there's a bit of a kerfuffle brewing between the shall we say 'colorful' President Trump and the Governor of California Newsom. Apparently Trump has authorized sending another 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles. Now I've dealt with some unruly crowds in my time from Jawas trying to strip my ship for parts to Trandoshans looking for a brawl but this whole thing seems a tad more complicated than your average cantina fight.
The Governor Strikes Back
Newsom's not taking it lying down though. He's blasted the deployment saying it's all about 'stroking a dangerous President's ego.' Sounds like someone's been watching too much podracing and not enough governing. He even filed a lawsuit which is a bit like trying to fight a Krayt dragon with a vibroknife. Risky but you gotta admire the chutzpah.
Marines: Not Exactly Protocol Droids
And get this: 700 U.S. Marines were mobilized from Twentynine Palms to support the Guard. Marines policing protests? That's like using a thermal detonator to light a candle. The ACLU is rightly worried that these Marines might not be up to speed on respecting constitutional rights. I've seen more finesse from a Hutt at a buffet.
Food Water and a Whole Lotta Nothing
Newsom claims the first 2,000 Guard troops were left without food or water. That's a pretty basic oversight even for a galaxy far far away. He says only 300 are actually deployed while the rest are 'sitting unused in federal buildings without orders.' Sounds like a great way to waste credits and morale if you ask me.
Arrest the Governor?
Then things got really interesting. Trump said he'd support arresting Newsom for obstructing federal immigration enforcement. Now I'm no lawyer but that sounds like a plot straight out of a bad HoloNet drama. Newsom responded by saying it's a day he hoped he'd never see in America. I feel like I'm watching a galactic Senate debate only with more shouting and less sense.
A Galaxy Divided
In the end it's all a big mess. A legal battle accusations of ego stroking and troops stuck in the middle. Senator Schumer calls it a 'diversion' and says Trump is in 'desperate need of a diversion.' I have spoken. Looks like the Force is strong with the chaos on this one. Time for me to find a quiet planet with no politicians and just some good old fashioned Beskar to forge.
