France Strikes Back
I have spoken. Heard President Macron is talkin' 'bout makin' France a real player in the chip game. Says they wanna build the best chips right there. Seems like everyone's tired of dependin' on folks far far away for the tech that keeps things runnin'. I reckon even a Mandalorian needs a good chip to keep his helmet display sharp eh? This is the way... to avoid blurry targets.
Nvidia's Blast From the Past
Turns out Nvidia's main man Jensen Huang mentioned their first GPU was slapped together in France way back when. By some outfit called SGS Thomson Microelectronics now STMicroelectronics. But here’s the kark STMicroelectronics ain't exactly pumpin' out the latest and greatest tech these days. More like… rusty droids than sleek speeders. Still gotta start somewhere right? Even a foundling needs someone to believe in him.
Macron's Vision: 2 to 10 Nanometers of Pure Power
Macron's dreamin' big. Wants France to crank out chips in the 2 to 10 nanometer range. The smaller the number the more gizmos you can cram in there makin' 'em real powerful. Apple's latest toys got 3 nanometer chips. Only a handful of outfits can pull that off on a large scale. I heard TSMC and Samsung are the big kahunas. Guess France wants to play with the big boys now. Hopefully they won’t end up frozen in carbonite trying.
Calling in the Reinforcements: TSMC or Samsung?
If France wants these fancy chips they might need to sweet talk TSMC or Samsung into buildin' a factory on their turf. Like what's been happenin' in the States. Heard TSMC's already throwin' credits around to build more factories over there. Macron’s gotta pull out all the stops. Maybe offer 'em some good wine and cheese. Grogu would probably go for that. I know I would.
Deals and Dreams in the French Tech Scene
Macron's braggin' 'bout a deal between Thales Radiall and Foxconn from Taiwan to set up a chip assembly and test center in France. He's tryin' to convince 'em to build the whole darn factory there. All this went down during VivaTech some big tech shindig in France. And Huang from Nvidia announced a bunch of deals to build more AI stuff in Europe. AI cloud. Sounds kinda ominous don't it? Just hope they don't start turnin' into killer droids like those clankers back in the Clone Wars.
France's AI Gamble: A Bet Worth More Than Beskar?
France's lookin' to beef up its AI setup. Macron said they're throwin' 109 billion euros into the AI game in the next few years. Nvidia and some French AI company called Mistral are hookin' up to build that AI cloud. Macron’s pumpin' it up as a big win for France. "This is the way" he said. Or at least I think he meant to say that. I'll stick to bounties. Credits are credits.
