Greetings citizens of Earth! It's your friendly neighborhood Superman Clark Kent by day here to lend an ear—or in this case a super ear—to the latest economic rumble. Seems like Mr. Trump the former leader of this here planet's United States isn't too thrilled with the current Federal Reserve Chair Mr. Jerome Powell. Apparently the man of steel (not me the other one) thinks Mr. Powell is costing the U.S. "hundreds of billions of dollars" by not cutting interest rates. Talk about a supervillainous price tag! I always thought Lex Luthor was expensive.

Rate Expectations: Lower Than a Kryptonite Vault?

According to Trump the U.S. should be “2.5 Points lower” on interest rates. I must admit even my super hearing can't quite decipher the exact economic implications of that statement. But from what I gather he's not holding back any punches much like when I face Doomsday. These guys think in terms of dollars and cents but I'm more of a 'preserving life on Earth' kind of guy. To each their own super power I suppose.

A Dummy By Any Other Name…

Adding a touch of late night drama Trump called Powell a “real dummy” on Truth Social. Now now folks let’s keep things civil. Even villains like Brainiac had their moments of (relative) brilliance. Powell for his part is playing it cool saying they’re “well positioned to wait” and see how the economy shakes out. Sounds like a game of chicken to me. Although I'm pretty sure I'd win that game too.

Europe's Got 10 Cuts We Got None!

Trump pointed out that Europe has had ten interest rate cuts while the U.S. has had zero. He even suggested Powell might be a “political guy” who’s “not a smart person.” Ouch! Seems like things are heating up faster than my heat vision on a cold Metropolis night. I wonder if anyone will try to stick Powell in a phone booth?

The Trump Fed: A Bird? A Plane? No Just Me!

In a bold move Trump even mused about appointing himself to lead the Federal Reserve. “I’d do a much better job than these people,” he declared. Well I could probably fly the U.S. economy to new heights with my super speed. But maybe it's best to leave economic policies to the experts. I'm more of a "faster than a speeding bullet" kinda guy.

The Waiting Game: Who Will Wear the Fed Crown?

Trump intends to announce his pick for the next Fed chair “very soon.” The suspense is thicker than a slab of Kryptonite folks. Will it be a superhero of finance or someone who will only cause economic chaos? Stay tuned because this is one election that's not as black and white as my Fortress of Solitude.
