Faster Than a Speeding Bullet... to Online Bonds!

Greetings citizens of Earth! It's your friendly neighborhood Superman here to shed some light on a development that even had me adjusting my heat vision. JPMorgan Chase yes the bank that's been around longer than I've been saving cats from trees is finally diving headfirst into the 21st century with new online investing tools. They're letting folks buy bonds and brokered CDs through their mobile app. I know I know what took them so long? Even Lex Luthor could've seen this coming! But hey better late than never right? As Pa Kent used to say 'The time to make friends is before you need them.' Maybe JPMorgan Chase is finally ready to be friends with the modern investor.

More Powerful Than a Locomotive...ly Behind the Curve!

Now let's not get ahead of ourselves. While this is a step in the right direction JPMorgan Chase is still playing catch up with the likes of Charles Schwab Fidelity and E Trade. Think of it like me racing a toddler. Sure I'll win but it's not exactly a fair fight. They've only recently crossed $100 billion in assets under management which in the grand scheme of things is like a grain of sand on the beach of Wall Street. But hey every journey starts with a single step even if that step is being dragged kicking and screaming into the digital age. As I always say 'There is a right and a wrong in the universe and the distinction is not hard to make.' JPMorgan is finally making the right moves albeit a bit late.

Able to Leap Tall Buildings... of Red Tape!

Remember their "You Invest" platform? Yeah neither do I. It seems even Jamie Dimon wasn't a fan calling it not a 'very good product.' Ouch! But they've brought in Paul Vienick a veteran of the investing world to turn things around. He's like the Jimmy Olsen to JPMorgan Chase's Superman trying to make the world a better place one investment at a time. Vienick has the unenviable task of modernizing the bank's wealth management division. Think of it like trying to teach Bizarro how to fly properly. It's going to take some work!

Look Up in the Sky! It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's… Bond Trading!

JPMorgan Chase is banking (pun intended!) on its vast network and reputation to attract more investors. They're offering up to $700 to customers who move their funds to their platform. That's a lot of Kryptonite ice cream! They're also planning to offer after hours stock trading. So if you want to trade stocks at 3 AM while fighting crime JPMorgan Chase has got you covered. It's all about consolidating finances and making life easier for the average investor. Or as Lex Luthor would say 'It's all about consolidating power!'

Faster Than A Portfolio Manager...

Around half of those who use a financial advisor also invest on their own with online tools Vienick said. Now the bank is looking to target more engaged investors those who research and buy stocks a few times per month and who are more inclined to purchase bonds directly rather than owning them through mutual funds. It currently offers customers up to $700 for moving funds to its self directed platform.

Next Stop: A Trillion Dollars... Or Is It Kryptonite?

Vienick believes this self directed business can eventually reach a trillion dollars. That's a lot of money even for someone who can melt glaciers with his eyes. But it's going to take hard work and delivering what clients want. And that my friends is a task worthy of a superhero. So keep an eye on JPMorgan Chase. They might just surprise you. Or as Jor El would warn 'Be vigilant Kal El for even the brightest stars can fall.' Only time will tell if JPMorgan Chase can truly soar in the online investing world. Until then this is Superman signing off! Up up and away... to check my own portfolio just in case!
