More Than Meets the Eye: A New Era of Sales?
Greetings humans! Optimus Prime here reporting on a development that even surprises me – and I've seen a lot from battling Decepticons to understanding human bureaucracy! It seems our friends in China are pushing the boundaries of technology yet again. According to recent reports AI generated avatars are now outselling real people in the livestreaming e commerce arena. Now that's a transformation worthy of the Matrix of Leadership!
Baidu's Bots: Are They Decepticons in Disguise?
Baidu a Chinese tech company has teamed up with popular livestreamer Luo Yonghao to create digital versions of him and his co host Xiao Mu. These avatars reportedly raked in a whopping 55 million yuan (approximately $7.65 million) in a single session! That's more than what Luo's first human led livestream achieved. It appears that these AI doppelgangers are quite adept at convincing viewers to part with their hard earned energon... I mean money.
Virtual Human Surpasses Real Human
Luo Yonghao himself seems to be a bit stunned by the success. "The digital human effect has scared me ... I'm a bit dazed," he admitted on social media. I can relate. It's like when I first saw a human try to assemble IKEA furniture – a bewildering experience to say the least. However the results are promising. Virtual livestream sales made more profits that real humans an observation that may spell the future of e commerce and sales and advertising.
DeepSeek vs. ChatGPT: The AI Wars Continue
This new technology is powered by Baidu's generative AI model which has been studying five years' worth of videos to mimic the hosts' jokes and style. Wu Jialu head of research at Luo's company "Be Friends Holding" called it a "DeepSeek moment." Ah yes another player in the AI arena. It's like watching the Autobots and Decepticons vying for control of Cybertron only this time the battleground is the internet. And this time Deepseek will be contending with other global tech titans.
Autobots Transform and Roll Out... of Production Costs
The appeal is clear: AI avatars can significantly reduce costs. No need for large production teams or studios and these digital salespeople can stream nonstop without needing breaks. That's dedication! Almost makes me wish I had a clone for those long negotiations with Earth's leaders. It does raise a few ethical questions. Are digital salespeople always honest or do they simply sell the sizzle and not the steak?
Compliance is the Right of All Sentient Beings
However the path isn't without its bumps. Compliance and platform requirements are now the biggest challenges. Digital humans need to be trained to follow advertising regulations and platforms may have varying rules about virtual hosts. It's a reminder that even in the digital world rules are essential to maintain order. As I always say "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings," but that freedom comes with responsibility.
