Consumer in the driver seat of where they live and work
Alright listen up! Michael Jordan here. Word on the street is folks are wising up. They're realizing they don't have to be stuck in some overpriced city just to make a decent living. This Hock fella from MakeMyMove is saying what I've been thinking all along: people are mobile! They can work from anywhere. And if you're smart – and I know a thing or two about being smart just ask any of my opponents – you can find a job anywhere. It's about time people started playing offense in their own lives. You got choices people! 'Some people want it to happen some wish it would happen others make it happen.' Which one are you?
From Big City Blues to Small Town Dreams
These programs are all about growth baby! We're talking about places that need a little boost a little talent injection. Places that might've lost some folks to the bright lights of the big city. But let me tell you something sometimes the best game is played on a smaller court. More room to maneuver you know? And who knows maybe you'll even find a decent golf course. Seriously I'm always looking for a good course. Think about it: affordability community maybe even a slower pace of life. Sounds kinda nice doesn't it? Even for someone who's used to running the fast break.
Do Your Homework Then Take the Plunge
Now before you pack your bags and start dreaming of all the free money listen up. Hock's right: You gotta visit these places. Check 'em out. See if they're a good fit. Don't just jump in blind. You wouldn't go into a game without knowing your opponent would you? And once you've done your research go for it! What do you have to lose? It's free to apply and you might just end up living your best life. 'You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them.' So expect to win that application and expect to love your new home.
West Virginia: Almost Heaven (and $12,000)
West Virginia huh? Sounds like a country song. But hey $12,000 is $12,000. Plus they're throwing in a free outdoor recreation package? I'm guessing that's not a round of golf at Augusta. But if you like the outdoors and you can work remotely this might be your ticket. Gotta live there for two years though. Better make sure you can handle those country roads because I'm not sure they are going to take you home. Just make sure you can actually *do* the remote work I don't want anyone getting in trouble because of me.
Tulsa Time (and Ten Grand)
Oklahoma? Never thought I'd see the day I'd be pitching people to move to Tulsa. But hey $10,000 is nothing to scoff at. Plus a three year membership to a co working space? That's like having a gym membership... but for work! Gotta be at least 18 authorized to work in the US and have a remote job outside of Oklahoma. And you gotta live outside the state for a year before applying? Sounds like they're serious. They make you do a background check and income verification? I would pass with flying colors but if you have a shady past maybe look at West Virginia. You know just saying.
Kansas Maryland Ohio Alaska and Iowa Throwing Their Hats in the Ring!
You are telling me that Topeka Kansas Baltimore Maryland Hamilton Ohio Ketchikan Alaska and Newton Iowa are paying people to move there? It just goes to show that everyone is wising up and giving incentives to remote workers. And they have to have the right work/life balance. So if you wanna be like Mike start packing your bags and find the right spot to get paid to move to. The best part? You can always come back! 'I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.' So it's okay to be nervous but keep moving and find that perfect spot to live!
