Air Jordan Steps In: No Layoffs? Is That Even Possible?

Alright folks MJ here. Heard Amazon's doing a little re jig in their healthcare division. Six new units huh? Sounds like they're trying to figure out their zone defense. Neil Lindsay says they're simplifying to move faster. Faster than me on a fast break? Doubtful. But hey gotta give 'em props for trying. They say no broad layoffs... right. That's like saying I never trash talked. We all know that's a load of... well you know. People coming and going is part of the game but you've gotta keep your eye on the ball and drive to the basket.

Executive Shuffle: Is It A Tanking Strategy?

So some execs bounced – Vin Gupta Trent Green Aaron Martin Sunita Mishra. Sounds like my Bulls in the late '90s everyone wanting a piece of the pie somewhere else. Martin's off to start a cover band in Nashville? Good luck with that buddy. Stick to healthcare. This whole thing sounds like a bit of a rebuild after a few missed shots. I mean Haven falling apart? That’s like bricking an open layup in Game 7. Ouch.

The PillPack Era: Amazon's First Dunk... Or Was It?

They dropped some serious cash buying PillPack and One Medical. PillPack was their 'acquisition' play hoping to get quick access to the healthcare market. It's like me endorsing a new brand you put money in it better perform! One Medical seemed like it was going to be their big play. The telehealth service Amazon Care got canned in 2022. I've seen better plays in a playground pickup game. They need a 'flu game' moment to turn this around.

Competition is FIERCE: It's Not Just the Flu Game Anymore!

PillPack founders are back with a new venture called General Medicine? That's cold man. Like Horace Grant leaving the Bulls to join the Magic. But hey competition is what I thrive on. Makes you step up your game. This Mishra gal even advised the startup according to STAT News that's just throwing salt on the wound eh? The U.S. healthcare industry is a multi trillion dollar beast and everyone wants a slice. Amazon needs to prove they're not just another player but a game changer.

Six Pillars of Power: Sounds Like a New Sneaker Lineup

These new “pillars” they're talking about – Clinical Care Delivery Operations and Performance Strategic Growth Store Tech and Marketing Compliance and Pharmacy Services – sound like names for my next signature shoe line. But seriously focusing on different areas is smart. Gotta have a strategy. Gotta attack from all angles. You can't win championships playing one dimensional basketball.

Strong Growth? Show Me the Money!: The Proof is in the Playoffs

Lindsay says they're seeing “very strong growth.” Show me the numbers buddy. I don't believe it 'til I see it in the box score. One Medical was losing money before Amazon bought them. They're opening new offices which is a good sign. And apparently their pharmacy business doubled. That's more like it. They are shooting for 45% of US customers eligible for same day medication delivery. That's some Prime level efficiency they are aiming for. But still actions speak louder than words. Let's see if they can turn this into a winning season. Like I always say “Some people want it to happen some wish it would happen others make it happen.”

The PillPack founders are savage for launching a competing company.
