A new survey reveals that Trump's tariffs are causing businesses to avoid reshoring, leading to job cuts and recession fears, threatening the future of affordable, or even luxury, goods.

Reshoring? More Like Re Shoring ly Not!

Alright folks Zuck here reporting live from... well my office. Apparently all this talk about bringing manufacturing back to the US because of Trump's tariffs? It's about as likely as me wearing a suit every day. According to a recent CNBC survey companies are basically saying 'Nah we're good.' Cost is the big kahuna you know? I mean I get it. Even I know you don't become a multi billionaire by throwing money out the window! Building a new supply chain here could double the costs. Double! That's like paying twice the price for my identical grey t shirts. Unthinkable!

Skillz That Kill (Jobs That Is)

And it's not just the money money money. Finding people with the right skills is apparently a pain. It's harder than explaining the metaverse to my grandma! The Trump administration promised tax cuts but let's be real taxes are just one piece of the puzzle. Even Nvidia who's building a supercomputer plant here and Apple who's investing a cool $500 billion (pocket change really) can't ignore the cost factor. It's all about ROI baby! Or as I like to say 'Move fast and optimize things.' Maybe we should build a VR training program for manufacturing skills? Just spitballin' here.

Hello Lower Tariffed Countries My Old Friend

So instead of Uncle Sam companies are looking to lower tariffed countries. Sixty one percent of them to be exact! It's like a digital migration but instead of users it's factories! And they're also worried about consumer demand raw material prices and... *ahem*... 'the current administration's inability to provide a consistent strategy.' Ouch. Tell it like it is survey respondents! They even feel like Trump is 'bullying corporate America.' Which honestly isn't a good look. Remember kids 'The question isn't 'What do we want to know about people?' it's 'What do people want to tell about themselves?'' Although maybe that applies more to social media than tariff negotiations. But hey it's all about connection right?

Three to Five Years? More Like Forever!

If anyone *does* decide to bring things back to the US we're talking years people! Like 'launching a new social network' years. Seventy four percent of respondents expect a three to five year timeline and some think it'll take even longer. Which in tech years is basically an eternity. And get this: when manufacturing *does* come back it'll be all about automation! Robots robots everywhere! Eighty one percent said automation will be used more than human workers. So much for the robot apocalypse huh? It's more like the robot workforce. Mark Baxa CEO of some supply chain group even said the US labor market is a 'concern.' Which yeah probably not what the White House wants to hear.

Layoffs Looming? Sounds Like a Job For the Metaverse!

And speaking of bad news layoffs are apparently on the horizon. Almost half the companies surveyed are planning headcount reductions. Yikes! Everyone's cancelling orders because they think consumers are going to stop spending. And if tariffs stick around sixty one percent said they'll raise prices. So basically everything's getting more expensive. Great. Just what we need! Maybe people will just start buying virtual goods in the metaverse instead? No tariffs there! Yet...

Recession Incoming! Brace Yourselves!

The grand finale? Sixty three percent of respondents think Trump's tariffs are going to cause a recession *this year*. Steve Lamar CEO of some apparel association is calling the tariffs 'destructive.' Strong words! Even BlackRock CEO Larry Fink thinks we're already in a recession. So yeah buckle up. It's gonna be a bumpy ride. Maybe I should start selling survival kits on Facebook Marketplace? Kidding! ...Unless?

Another example of how policy decisions impact the average person. So sad.

Maybe Zuckerberg should invest in retraining programs for American workers. Put his money where his mouth is!

I wonder what countries are benefiting from this relocation of supply chains?
