Not on My Watch!

Well gather 'round District 12 because politics is still a game – just a whole lot more twisted than the Hunger Games if you can believe it. Seems President Bukele of El Salvador is playing hardball with Trump over a deported man named Kilmar Abrego Garcia. They want to send him back to the US but Bukele isn’t having it! He basically said 'Not on my watch!' When asked about it at the White House Bukele made it crystal clear: he wasn't about to 'smuggle a terrorist' into the U.S. Honestly you’d think after all the explosions and arrows I’ve dealt with I’d be immune to drama. But this is just... wow.

A Game of Cat and Mouse (and Planes)

The whole thing started because Abrego Garcia a father of three was deported due to an 'administrative error'. Sounds like something Haymitch would blame on being drunk. But the Trump administration claims he’s a gang member. Now a judge ordered Trump to 'facilitate' Abrego Garcia’s return but they’re dragging their feet like a tributes heading to the arena. Apparently 'facilitate' just means offering a plane if El Salvador decides to play nice. Reminds me of when the Gamemakers 'helped' us by conveniently placing that parachute with the sleeping syrup right when we needed it. Always a catch isn't there?

Murder Capital No More!

Bukele isn’t backing down. He declared that he's turned El Salvador from the 'murder capital of the world' into the 'safest country in the Western Hemisphere'. I can almost respect that kind of dedication to homeland safety. He’s worried about letting criminals back in. He literally said 'That's not going to happen.' I hear you Mr. President loud and clear! Sometimes you just gotta draw a line in the sand like when I volunteered as tribute.

Sick Media?

Trump of course had to throw in his two cents claiming the media would 'love' to see criminals released into the U.S. calling them 'sick people'. It's always someone else's fault isn't it? But is it really? When a reporter from CNN dared to ask about it Trump passed the buck to Attorney General Pam Bondi. Bondi claimed Abrego Garcia was an illegal gang member even though the judge said there’s no evidence. Peeta would probably try to see both sides here but honestly it's hard not to roll my eyes.

It's All El Salvador's Fault

Bondi made it sound like it’s all up to El Salvador to decide. Trump brought in Stephen Miller who chimed in with his own wisdom about how 'arrogant' it is for American media to tell El Salvador what to do with their own citizens. Marco Rubio nodded along. It's all one big finger pointing exercise. These people will do anything to pass the blame on to someone else just like the Capitol did for the uprising.

End of Story (or Is It?)

Rubio declared that 'no court in the United States has a right to conduct a foreign policy in the United States it's that simple. End of story.' When the CNN reporter tried to follow up Trump asked 'How long do we have to answer this question from you?' The whole thing is a mess of egos and political posturing and one man is stuck in the middle. In the end I guess the question is will Abrego Garcia ever get his chance to come back to the US? The odds as always don't seem to be in his favor.
