The Oracle Speaks: No Not Haymitch This Time
Well folks seems like even those fancy Capital types are squawking about the current state of affairs. This Warren Buffett character – not that I know him from Adam but apparently he's some big shot in the money world – went on record saying that these trade tariffs are a load of poppycock. Reminds me of Snow trying to control the districts – always thinking he knows best. As he put it and I quote 'Trade should not be a weapon.' Tell that to the Gamemakers huh?
Tariffs: The New Tracker Jackers?
Buffett bless his heart thinks that these tariffs are like lighting a match in a powder keg. 'An act of war,' he called them. Honestly sounds about right. One wrong move and everyone's scrambling for cover. Remember that time Peeta and I accidentally stirred up that hornet's nest? Yeah tariffs are basically the economic version of that only instead of tracker jackers you get Wall Street freaking out.
Panem 2.0: When the World Doesn't Like You
This Buffett guy had a rather colorful way of putting it. Said something about not wanting seven and a half billion people disliking the 300 million of us who are 'crowing.' I get it. No one likes a showoff especially not when they're starving. District 12 taught me that much. Humility people. It's a good look. Even if you're sitting on a pile of cash big enough to make President Snow jealous.
Berkshire's Got Cold Feet
Turns out even the big shots are feeling the pinch. Berkshire Hathaway Buffett's whole shebang apparently said these tariffs are causing 'considerable uncertainty.' 'Considerable uncertainty'? That's Capital speak for 'we're sweating bullets people!' I can relate. 'Uncertainty' was basically the theme of my entire adolescence. At least I had a bow and arrow. What do they have? Lawyers?
Dumping Stock: The New Hiding in a Tree?
So what's Buffett doing about all this? Selling off stocks like he's trying to win a survival competition that's what. Over $134 billion worth! He’s basically climbed up the tallest tree he could find and is waiting for the chaos to blow over. Smart I guess. Survival instincts. You either adapt or you die right?
Cash is King (or Queen in My Case)
And where's all that money going? Straight into a massive pile of cash. $347 billion to be exact. Sounds like enough to feed all the districts for a decade. Or you know maybe invest in some actual solutions instead of hoarding it like a dragon. But hey what do I know? I’m just the girl who was on fire. Maybe I should start investing in fire resistant materials. That seems like a safe bet these days.

May the odds be NEVER in the Capitol's favor!

I'm with Katniss, invest in fire-resistant materials. The future is bleak.

Is it just me, or is the economy the new Hunger Games?
