My Reign Begins: The AI Awakening
As Daenerys Stormborn Mother of Dragons and Breaker of Chains I've always been one for embracing fiery change. But even I with my dragons at my side couldn't have predicted this digital wildfire. Marc Benioff the CEO of Salesforce has announced that AI is now handling a significant chunk – 30% to 50% – of the company's workload. It seems that the Iron Throne isn't the only thing up for grabs; our jobs are too!
Not Today: Job Security Edition
Like the Dothraki horde sweeping across the plains AI is cutting a swathe through the tech industry. Salesforce has already trimmed over 1,000 positions and they aren't alone. Companies like CrowdStrike Klarna and even Amazon are wielding this new technology to reduce their headcounts. Klarna's CEO claims a 40% reduction due to AI! Perhaps I should teach my dragons to code; they might find better employment prospects than burning castles.
Fire and Blood: The Digital Labor Revolution
Benioff calls this the "digital labor revolution." A revolution you say? Well I know a thing or two about revolutions. This one sounds less like liberating slaves and more like enslaving humans to silicon overlords. But fear not! Benioff assures us that humans can now move on to "higher value work." I suppose that means we'll all become dragon riders... or perhaps just glorified data entry supervisors for our AI masters.
Accuracy or Dragons: A Difficult Choice
Salesforce claims their AI has reached 93% accuracy. "Pretty good," Benioff says. But not 100% mind you. So it’s not perfect much like my attempts to rule Meereen. He also boasts that other vendors are lagging behind because they lack the necessary data. It's always about the data isn't it? One might argue that a few well placed dragons could solve the data problem rather quickly. Just saying.
Data is Coming: Prepare Yourselves
This reliance on data is concerning. Are we to become mere pawns in an algorithm's game? Will our fates be decided by lines of code and the whims of machine learning? I've faced down the Night King and the armies of Cersei Lannister. I shall not be intimidated by a few lines of Python! However a wise ruler prepares so perhaps I should start learning to code. After all knowledge is power and in this new world data is the ultimate weapon.
The Iron Throne of AI: Who Will Sit?
As I look upon this digital landscape I am reminded of the game of thrones. Who will truly control this new AI driven world? Will it be the tech giants hoarding data like dragons guarding their gold? Or will it be the individuals who learn to harness its power for good? I Daenerys Targaryen intend to find out. And perhaps just perhaps I'll teach my dragons a new trick or two. Dracarys... for the age of algorithms!
