A Queen's Decree (or Robinhood's Announcement)
Hark loyal subjects! Your Khaleesi Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen First of Her Name Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men Queen of Meereen Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons brings tidings from across the Narrow Sea – though not *quite* as far as Westeros. It seems a company called Robinhood not unlike a band of merry men from the tales has decided to spread its wealth... or at least *access* to wealth across the European lands. They're offering tokenized shares of these... what did they call them? Ah yes OpenAI and SpaceX. Companies that deal in stars and artificial minds not dragons sadly.
Untarnished Unbowed Un Public... Until Now?
Now these OpenAI and SpaceX unlike my own Targaryen dynasty are not publicly listed. Access to their riches has been guarded more fiercely than the Iron Throne itself! Only the wealthiest lords and ladies could partake. But Robinhood in their quest to be breakers of chains aims to change that. They claim to want to democratize access to these companies. One might say they're trying to 'break the wheel,' though I suspect their motives are somewhat less… fiery than mine were in Meereen.
5 Euros Worth of Dragons' Eggs (Almost)
To entice the smallfolk Robinhood is handing out a pittance of tokens – a mere five euros! Barely enough to buy a single Unsullied let alone a dragon egg. But it's a start I suppose. They've allocated a million in these OpenAI tokens and half a million in SpaceX. A decent start but it needs dragons.
Europe: Where Regulations Bend the Knee
It appears the regulations in Europe are more… pliable than those in the land called the United States. They lack these 'accredited investor rules,' allowing any Tom Dick or Varys to trade these tokens. It seems some lands are more eager to embrace the future than others.
America: Still Stuck in the Mud
Alas my loyal subjects in the United States do not hold your breath! These tokenized riches are not coming your way anytime soon. Their leaders shackled by regulations seem content to let the dragons of innovation remain grounded. A pity really. I always believed in unleashing the full potential 'Fire and Blood' after all. But perhaps they need a little… persuasion.
Staking Claims and Building New Kingdoms
While the US may not have tokenized shares they are getting something called 'crypto staking'. One could say they are hedging their bets for what is to come. Robinhood has also invested in infrastructure building a new Layer 2 blockchain on Arbitrum. It is a good start to building a kingdom. Perhaps one day they will truly be 'Unburnt' like me.
