Winter is Coming...For Oversold Stocks?

Hark loyal subjects! Your Khaleesi has turned her attention from conquering Westeros to conquering Wall Street. It seems these 'stocks' have faced a fate worse than wildfire but fear not! They may yet rise again. Like a dragon from an egg some of the most battered stocks this week are poised for a glorious rebound should the market decide to show some mercy. It appears the 'President Donald Trump,' a name as foreign to me as 'quantitative easing,' unveiled tariff policies that sent investors fleeing like Lannisters from a fair fight. Perhaps he should heed my words: 'I will take what is mine with fire and blood!'

The Technical Analysis: A Maester's Scroll But For Stocks

These 'investors,' they are trying to play it safe cautious that the sell off could get worse. A 'Citi Wealth chief investment officer Kate Moore told CNBC's " Squawk Box " Thursday morning that " the uncertainty factor is just starting ," and she that she didn't "want to be adding to risk right now." If only they had dragons! But alas we must rely on this 'technical analysis,' a sort of Maester's scroll for the stock market. They use something called 'RSI,' which sounds suspiciously like a rare Targaryen disease to determine if a stock is oversold or overbought. If it's below 30 it's oversold and ready to bounce. If it's above 70 it's overbought and ready to fall. Simple enough even for a Dothraki!

GE Healthcare: The Unburnt of Medical Technology?

First on the list of the downtrodden is 'GE Healthcare.' It has an RSI of a measly 10.4! The average price target suggests it could rise 59%. One 'Goldman Sachs analyst David Roman' even upgraded the stock claiming its sales in 'China' are stabilizing and it can withstand these 'tariffs.' It seems this stock is resilient like a Targaryen in the face of flames. Perhaps this 'David Roman' is a secret dragon rider. He said "We … believe that a faster turnaround in China and [profit and loss] leverage can more than offset the known tariff risk"

Seagate Technology: Riding the Data Dragon?

'Seagate Technology' is another oversold darling with an RSI of 13. Analysts predict a potential 79% rally! One 'Morgan Stanley' analyst believes it benefits from 'accelerating data growth.' It seems we are entering a new era where information is power much like dragons. Perhaps this 'data growth' is like the growth of my dragon children. This analyst also said "STX benefits from accelerating data growth which drives storage demand in the cloud and [on premises]," wrote analyst Erik Woodring. "We believe that we are still in the middle of the cycle upturn."

Overbought Stocks: Too Much Wine in the Arbor?

Now let's turn our attention to the overbought stocks. These are the ones that have risen too high like Icarus flying too close to the sun or perhaps more appropriately like Cersei Lannister on her Iron Throne. They may soon be due for a fall. 'Monster Beverage,' the maker of an energy drink has an RSI of 76. Analysts think it could fall 5%. Another 'American Tower,' a real estate investment trust has an RSI of 77. Its upside is a mere 1%. These stocks are like overly confident generals before a battle; they are ripe for a surprise attack!

CNBC Pro LIVE: A Gathering of Strategists

And finally for those brave enough to venture into the heart of the beast there's 'CNBC Pro LIVE' at the 'New York Stock Exchange.' They offer a chance to 'gain an edge with CNBC Pro LIVE an exclusive inaugural event at the historic New York Stock Exchange.' It sounds like a gathering of strategists before a great war. Perhaps they will have knowledge that will help you navigate these treacherous markets. Be warned though: knowledge is power and power corrupts. As I learned I'm sure on my way to my Iron Throne!
