Winter is Coming... to the Middle East?

My loyal subjects your Khaleesi brings tidings from across the Narrow Sea – though this sea is considerably more oily and contentious than the one I'm accustomed to. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei the supreme leader of Iran has issued a rather fiery decree threatening the US with 'irreparable damage' should they dare to unsheathe their swords. It seems someone's been taking lessons from Cersei Lannister on the art of subtle diplomacy. 'The Iranian people,' he proclaims 'will never surrender!' I wonder if he's tried 'Dracarys' as a negotiating tactic? It's worked wonders for me.

Trump's Truth or Dare: A Lannister Always Pays His Debts...With Missiles?

And what of the self proclaimed King of the North Donald Trump? He calls Khamenei an 'easy target' and demands Iran's 'UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!' It sounds awfully familiar doesn't it? Like the time I demanded everyone bend the knee? Only I had dragons. Does Trump have dragons? I highly doubt it. Though perhaps he considers his hair a suitable substitute? He claims he doesn’t want missiles shot at civilians or American soldiers. How noble. Reminds me of the time I considered razing King’s Landing. Almost. The White House has been trying to broker a deal over Iran's nuclear program and one is beginning to wonder if all the talks will be in vain.

The Jewish State Strikes First. Dracarys?

But this isn't all about Trump and Khamenei. Apparently Israel has already launched an attack against Iran targeting their nuclear program. The International Atomic Energy Agency confirms that two nuclear centrifuge production facilities were hit. Such actions and reactions make one question when and where this will end. If Westeros and the seven Kingdoms did not unite for one common purpose the White Walkers would have succeeded in annihilating everyone. I wonder if these nations will learn to unite for a common goal before it is too late.

Allies and Allegiances: The Shifting Sands of Power

Germany's Chancellor Friedrich Merz (a most unfortunate name considering what happened to my brother) has reportedly said that Israel is doing 'the dirty work' for the Western world. Now that's a spicy meatball! Alliances are a fickle thing aren't they? One day you're riding dragons together the next you're whispering behind each other's backs. It would seem the game of thrones is alive and well in the Middle East.

The Price of War: Gold Oil and a Whole Lot of Anxiety

As these tensions rise markets are watching with bated breath. Investors are scurrying for safe haven assets like gold while the price of oil dances like a wild Dothraki on fire. War is never cheap my friends. It costs lives resources and the sanity of anyone involved. But is the price of freedom worth it? I have always believed so.

A Queen's Plea: Can't We All Just Get Along?

So what is a Mother of Dragons to make of all this? It seems the world much like Westeros is forever teetering on the brink of chaos. I can only hope that cooler heads prevail and that diplomacy – or perhaps a well aimed dragon flame – can bring these nations to the bargaining table. After all 'Fire cannot kill a dragon.' But it certainly can singe a few egos. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
