From Philly Suburbs to Munich Mayhem

Erika Roberts a young padawan from the Philadelphia suburbs took a two week trip to Munich. Little did she know that trip would change her like a roundhouse kick to the face. Back in my day a trip like that would've involved tracking down ninjas or rescuing hostages. Now it's about… medical school? The world's gone soft.

Biochemistry Blues and a Yearning for Adventure

She was hitting the books hard biochemistry this pre med that. But something was missing. She felt like she wasn’t working towards a future that excited her. I know the feeling kid. Sometimes you gotta throw a punch at destiny to make it listen. Her soul was craving adventure like I crave a good ol' fashioned staring contest with a grizzly bear.

Deutschland Calling: No Bachelor's? No Problem!

Here's where things get interesting. Erika found out Germany doesn't need a Bachelor's degree to dive into the medical world. It's a six year program bam bam bam you're a doctor! Meanwhile in the States you're drowning in tuition fees higher than my tolerance for bad guys. And the public schools are basically free. Free I say! The Germans are on to something. She thought this was her best option to become a dermatologist without lengthy schooling... smart girl!

Dad's Doubts and a 3.9 GPA Uppercut

Dad wasn’t buying it at first. Wanted her to stay in the U.S. finish the ‘traditional’ route. But Erika dropped a 3.9 GPA bomb on him! That’s like kicking a door off its hinges with your pinky toe. Dad had no choice but to surrender. Lesson learned: Always have a GPA that can subdue parental units.

Apartment Adventures and Euro Economics

Language school shared apartments the whole shebang. She paid 565 euros then 659 euros (648 751 Freedom Bucks). I pay more than that for beard oil. But hey she's saving on tuition. And Erika's expenses are 749 euros (859 USD) a month; groceries health insurance gym cell phone transportation med school tuition and of course going out to eat with friends. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Remember Chuck Norris doesn't need money money needs Chuck Norris.

Adapting and Thriving: Erika's German Evolution

Now Erika's all about the German way of life. Healthier habits less overthinking. I'm not sure about that 'less overthinking' part; strategy is still important in any fight. But she's found her place learned to adapt and is shaping her destiny like I shape steel with my bare hands. She is happy there and can see herself staying there! Good for her! The world is her dojo.

She had to adapt to the German culture... I wonder how many pushups she had to do.
