The Winds of Fortune Favor the PAP... Again?

Blast and barnacles! It appears the People's Action Party or PAP as they're known be on course for another victory! Aye a 14th consecutive one no less! Six decades they've ruled this fine city state and it seems they'll be doing so for a while longer. Makes a pirate wonder if they've got a map to the Fountain of Youth... or perhaps just a really good political strategist. Savvy?

Sample Counts and Sea Shanties

They released these... 'sample counts,' see? From 15 of the 32 constituencies and the PAP they've won all but one! A quarter of the house seats already in their treasure chest! But hold fast me hearties the count's still underway. Still it's looking like smoother sailing than I've ever seen on the Caribbean... and that's saying something!

A Bellwether a Mandate and a Whole Lotta 'Blah'

This election it's a 'bellwether,' they say. A sign of the PAP's popularity. Since before Singapore's independence in '65! Can ye believe it? The opposition they're trying to make inroads but it's like trying to steer the Flying Dutchman with a teaspoon! New premier Lawrence Wong he's looking to improve on their last performance. He wants better than 60.1% of the votes says it was 'one of its worst'.... Worst!? I'd plunder my own ship for numbers like that!

Lopsided Like a Drunken Pirate's Walk

Defeat for the PAP? As likely as finding honest merchants! But some 'analysts' (a dubious bunch those) say this could change the political winds. The younger voters they want 'alternative voices.' Aye and I want a bottle of rum that refills itself but wanting and getting are two different things aren't they? The PAP they contested all 97 seats! The Workers' Party bless their hearts they only managed 26. It's like pitting a goldfish against the Kraken!

Wong's First Voyage as Captain

This be Wong's first election as the big cheese. Taking over from Lee Hsien Loong who took over from his dad... Seems power runs in that family thicker than grog! Living costs and housing they be the big gripes. And Wong he's warning of 'recession' if the trade economy hits the rocks! Balancing ties with the U.S. and China? Sounds like trying to juggle exploding cannonballs!

Consequences and Cabinet Members: A Pirate's Perspective

The PAP they were keen on avoiding any 'upsets.' Warned the voters of the 'consequences' if key cabinet members lost their seats. Consequences you say? More like consequences if the rum runs out that's a real disaster! All in all it seems the PAP's ship be sailing smoothly onward and the opposition? Well they're still trying to figure out which way be up.

Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.

Why is it always the rum that's gone?

The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem.
