A Pirate's Eye on Presidential Pardons and Political Plays
Savvy? Perhaps. Expected? About as much as finding a sober pirate in Tortuga. Aye it seems President Trump has swapped out one scallywag Ed Martin for another the fiery Jeanine Pirro as interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. 'Why is the rum always gone?' you ask? Because sometimes mateys the political seas be as unpredictable as a drunken octopus. Trump himself declared on that newfangled 'Truth Social' contraption that Jeanine is 'incredibly well qualified' and 'in a class by herself.' Well I've seen enough 'classes' to know that some be more like pirate brawls than proper schools.
From Westchester to Washington: A Fox in the Henhouse?
Pirro mind you she's no ordinary swab. Ex district attorney of Westchester County they say. And a staunch Trump supporter at that! But here's where the story gets a bit... tangled like rigging after a hurricane. Trump in his final hours pardoned her ex husband for tax evasion. Now I'm no stranger to bending the rules but even I raise an eyebrow at such convenient timing. Makes you wonder if 'the rum is gone' or if it was just cleverly hidden all along eh?
Martin's Mutiny: Why He Was Left Adrift
Poor Martin though. Seems he was advocating for the Jan. 6th Capitol riot defendants a cause that didn't sit well with the Senate. Senator Thom Tillis a Republican no less declared he wouldn't support Martin's nomination. A final blow they say! Trump ever the pragmatist admitted Martin 'wasn't getting the support.' Sometimes mateys you either adapt or get left behind. And in the world of politics just like on the high seas there's no room for sentimentality.
The Senate Says No: A Hard Pill to Swallow?
Trump tried to let everyone know that Martin was not rejected but that they thought it would be hard to push the nomination through. A lot of people were disappointed but sometimes 'that's the way it works' or so says the president. But that's the beauty of it ain't it? The push and pull the ebb and flow. The next appointment will be made over the next two days. So it looks like Martin wasn't ready to lead but to be lead.
A Fox News Favorite: The Chosen One?
What this looks like is it was very hard to get the support needed for Martin's nomination so Trump went a different route. Pirro is a long time supporter of Trump so it seems like he chose someone he could rely on.
On the Horizon: More Twists Than a Kraken's Tentacles
So what's next? Who knows! Politics like the sea is full of surprises. But one thing's for sure: with Jeanine Pirro at the helm things are bound to get interesting. As I always say 'Not all treasure is silver and gold mate.' Sometimes it's a well placed political appointment. Now if you'll excuse me I have a bottle of rum with my name on it... and a story to tell. After all why is the rum always gone? Because as I said sometimes the political seas be as unpredictable as a drunken octopus. Savvy?

What about the previous candidate? Did he really deserve to be passed over?

This could have significant implications for the District of Columbia.

Politics as usual, I suppose.

I'm just hoping for some stability in our leadership.

It seems like Trump is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers.
