A Gathering of Scallywags (OPEC+ Edition)

Blast and barnacles! This is Captain Jack Sparrow reporting live from... well not *live* exactly more like *delayed with a healthy dose of rum*. Seems those OPEC+ fellas a right motley crew if I ever saw one (and I've seen a few) are havin' a pow wow. A secret rendezvous if you will. They're movin' their meeting forward which savvy means somethin's brewin'. Maybe they found a map to a secret stash of gold... or more likely a whole heap of oil. Which to them is basically the same thing.

The Saudi's Ire and a Barrel of Trouble

Now the word on the docks gleaned from a parrot who overheard some chatter from a rather portly gentleman in a turban is that Saudi Arabia's a tad miffed. Seems Kazakhstan and Iraq been dipping their fingers in the barrel a bit too greedily pumpin' out more oil than they agreed to. "Why is the rum always gone?" one might ask. Well this time it's more like "Why is the oil always gone?" And when the Saudis get riled things get... interesting. Like a kraken in a bathtub.

Lower Prices? A Pirate's Bargain (Or Is It?)

These blokes are willing to live with lower oil prices! Lower prices you say? Why is the rum always gone? On the one hand that's a pirate's dream! Cheaper fuel for the Black Pearl less grog money spent at Tortuga! On the other hand if they're willing to sink the market... somethin' fishy is afoot. Perhaps a gambit to seize control? Like when I planned to capture the Interceptor? "Complications arose ensued were overcome."

A Triple Decker Increase? Shiver Me Timbers!

They are considering a further accelerated oil output hike for June! If they agree on some 'triple decker increase' it will be three times as much as previously agreed. Which sounds like far too much for a captain to count. What is that they say about numbers and pirates? "This is either madness... or brilliance." (Turns out it was madness.)

The Plot Thickens (Like Grog After a Week at Sea)

This is where it gets tricky. One of them fancy analyst types a Helima Croft reckons maybe they should stick to the original plan. But she also admits a 'plot twist' could be in the offing. Which frankly is what I live for! A bit of chaos a dash of uncertainty and a whole lot of opportunism! It's the pirate way savvy? Remember "The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem." So hoist the colors me hearties! This saga is far from over!

May 28th: Mark Your Calendars (or Your Parrots)

The full ministerial meeting is on May 28th. So there is the date to get you ready for the news of what happens with the meeting! Keep on the horizon for it and be ready for the news to drop like the contents of a treasure chest. The oil and price movements could bring wealth or disaster to the pirates and sailors out there! But as I always say "Not all treasure is silver and gold mate."
