Amidst government cuts and political turmoil, wealthy philanthropists are hesitant to donate, leaving nonprofits in dire straits, reminiscent of King's Landing after Cersei's reign.

A Lannister Always Pays His Debts...Except When He Doesn't Want To

As Daenerys Stormborn First of Her Name Queen of the Andals and the First Men Protector of the Seven Kingdoms the Mother of Dragons the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea the Unburnt Breaker of Chains (and now apparently a financial analyst) I've noticed a disturbing trend. These so called 'wealthy philanthropists' are acting like Cersei with the Iron Bank – promising aid but delivering naught but empty words! Government cuts are creating more needs than a dragon has scales but these fat cats are too busy counting their gold to notice the realm is crumbling around them.

Harvard vs. the Horde: A Battle for Funding

Take Harvard for instance. They received a measly million after battling the ahem 'Trump administration.' A million? That's less than I spend on dragon feed in a week! And this after the White Walkers in power froze billions in funding? It's an outrage! These institutions are the Maesters of our time and we need them strong not begging for scraps like Gendry at a royal feast.

Nonprofits on the Brink: Are We Repeating History?

Nonprofits are launching their most aggressive fundraising efforts since the dare I say the Long Night of the Covid pandemic. They argue that the future of free speech is under attack! It's like watching the Night King march on Winterfell all over again but this time instead of dragonglass we need...money! Where are the heroic acts of generosity? Where are the Samwell Tarlys of the financial world stepping up to save the Citadel of knowledge?

The Reluctant Donors: Hiding in the Shadows Like Littlefinger

Advisors say these 'mega donors' don't want to be seen publicly opposing the administration. Others agree with the critiques that these nonprofits have become too 'ideologically one sided.' Honestly it sounds like they're all playing the Game of Thrones with their wallets! They're giving quietly like Littlefinger whispering secrets in the dark. But hiding in the shadows won't save anyone from the coming winter. We need open displays of generosity not clandestine coin exchanges.

Small Coin Big Impact? Not Anymore

Apparently nonprofits now rely on larger gifts from a smaller pool of ultra wealthy donors. So when those dragons decide to hoard their gold everyone suffers. Remember the Common Folk of Westeros? They don't have millions to throw around. We need these wealthy individuals to remember their duty and invest in the realm's future or we'll all be eating roasted rats again.

The Mother of Dragons' Call to Action: 'Dracarys' to Apathy!

So what is to be done? Some philanthropists are pledging support signing statements about charitable giving as a First Amendment right. But words are wind! I say let's channel our inner dragon and breathe fire (metaphorically of course – no one wants another King's Landing incident) into the hearts of these reluctant donors. Let's remind them that with great power comes great responsibility and a kingdom (or a modern society) is only as strong as its weakest link. It’s time for these dragons to stop hoarding their gold and start sharing it with the realm. Because winter is coming and this time it's a financial one.

It's always the small folk who suffer.

This is more twisted than a Lannister family reunion.

They should take a lesson from Jon Snow: Do the right thing, even when it's hard.

Where are the dragons when you need them?
