Olympian Revenue Earthly Setbacks!

Greetings mortals! Wonder Woman here reporting live from the front lines of... well the stock market apparently. Eli Lilly a purveyor of potions and pills (not quite as magical as my Lasso of Truth but they’ll do) has seen its coffers swell with drachmas – I mean dollars! Their weight loss and diabetes treatments are flying off the shelves faster than Hermes delivering a message. However even the mightiest of companies stumble and Eli Lilly has lowered its profit forecast faster than I can say "Great Hera!" because of a deal with Scorpion Therapeutics. It appears even pharmaceutical giants can't escape the occasional economic Hydra.

Mounjaro and Zepbound: The Dynamic Duo!

Mounjaro and Zepbound Eli Lilly's dynamic duo are making waves – big tsunami sized waves – in the medical community. Mounjaro the diabetes treatment reeled in a staggering $3.84 billion! And Zepbound the weight loss wonder more than quadrupled its sales from last year raking in $2.31 billion! Folks these drugs are more popular than a party at Themyscira (and trust me those are legendary!). It seems the quest for health and wellness is a battle even the gods can appreciate. Although with my Amazonian physique I haven’t needed any… yet! But perhaps I should invest in some stock options just in case.

Trump's Tariffs: A Wall Around Wonder?

Ah politics! Even on Themyscira we have our debates. President Trump's tariffs are stirring the economic pot faster than a witch’s brew. Eli Lilly's CEO Dave Ricks suggests these tariffs might be spurring investments in U.S. manufacturing which is a victory as my Amazonian sisters and I believe in self sufficiency and strength at home. But he's also questioning whether the tariffs are truly necessary. It's like debating whether to use my invisible jet or simply fly to a destination – both work but one is definitely flashier! The truth is finding the right path is like navigating a labyrinth only I have the benefit of super speed and a really big sword if I get lost.

Taxing Matters: A Fair Fight?

Ricks also mentioned the importance of lower tax rates to encourage domestic production. He says lower taxes drove many drugmakers to manufacture in "low tax islands like Ireland Singapore and in Switzerland and that can come back if there's an economic incentive." A 15% tax for domestic production perhaps? Even I a warrior princess can appreciate the power of economic incentives. After all a fair fight is a good fight and fairness extends to the marketplace as well as the battlefield. I wonder if Ares the god of war invests in tax havens… probably not. He prefers the chaos of the battlefield to the dullness of economics.

Supply and Demand: A Shortage No More!

For a while demand for Zepbound and Mounjaro far outstripped supply causing more stress than a day spent wrangling Etta Candy's shopping lists. But fear not citizens! The FDA has declared the shortage of tirzepatide the active ingredient in these treatments over! This means more access for those who need it and less room for those pesky compounding pharmacies peddling unapproved versions. It's like guarding the gates of Themyscira – only the worthy shall pass! And by worthy I mean FDA approved of course.

The Bottom Line: More to Come!

So what does all this mean? Eli Lilly had a good quarter driven by the popularity of their weight loss and diabetes treatments. But some setbacks like a deal with Scorpion Therapeutics and concerns about tariffs are causing a bit of turbulence. Overall it's a mixed bag a blend of triumph and tribulation not unlike my own life. But remember dear readers hope is the greatest weapon and even when things look bleak there's always a chance for a brighter tomorrow. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go practice my lasso skills. Hippolyta says I need to work on my aim. Farewell!
