A Celebration of Force or a Show of Hubris?

My dearest readers it appears the Muggles across the pond are embroiled in quite the pickle. President Trump a character of… let’s say *distinctive* qualities decided to commemorate the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary with a parade grand enough to make even Gilderoy Lockhart blush. Tanks rolling down streets helicopters buzzing overhead – one almost expects a dragon to make an appearance! Alas no dragons but plenty of drama I assure you. As I always say 'It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies but just as much to stand up to our friends.'

Dark Deeds and Political Shadows

However as with many things in life the parade was not without its… *complications*. A most unsettling incident occurred earlier that day. A villainous fellow named Vance Luther Boelter a name that sounds like it was plucked straight from a bad dark wizard novel allegedly impersonated a police officer and committed what authorities are calling a 'politically motivated assassination' of a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband! One cannot help but wonder what madness drives someone to such barbarity? It seems the 'happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light' hasn't reached everyone.

Dissent in the Ranks: 'No Kings Day'

And that is not all! The parade took place amid mass protests across the nation dubbed “No Kings Day.” Muggles it seems are not always keen on displays of power particularly when they disagree with the one wielding it. These protests reminiscent of the early days of the Goblin rebellions (though hopefully less destructive) took place in major cities and smaller towns alike. There were even… clashes! It appears the Muggles are not always as civilized as they like to think. 'We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy,' and clearly many found protesting the easier – or perhaps more compelling – option.

Rain or Shine: Trump's Unyielding Vision

Despite the somber backdrop and the brewing storms (both meteorological and political) President Trump in a manner that reminds one of a particularly stubborn Niffler was determined to have his parade. "RAIN OR SHINE," he proclaimed via what I gather is some form of Muggle messaging system. One wonders if he consulted with a weather wizard before making such a bold declaration. Sadly some flyovers were canceled proving that not even the most powerful Muggle can control the elements. As I have learned sometimes it is better to yield and not push too hard against the world.

A Costly Affair: Peanuts or Galleons?

The cost of this grand spectacle is another matter of contention. Some estimate it to be around $45 million! A sum that could perhaps be better spent on… oh I don't know feeding the poor or funding research into exploding snap resistant playing cards. Trump however brushed off the cost as 'peanuts,' a rather odd comparison considering the vast quantity of peanuts one could purchase with such a sum. It seems that 'it matters not what someone is born but what they grow to be,' and in this case what they choose to spend their considerable resources on.

Fireworks Amidst the Tempest

In the end the parade concluded with a fireworks display a final flourish despite the impending thunderstorms. One can only hope the fireworks were of the non exploding variety. The dramatic juxtaposition of celebration and chaos leaves one pondering the state of the Muggle world. A reminder perhaps that 'to the well organized mind death is but the next great adventure.' I certainly hope this is not an adventure the Muggles are rushing towards.
