Not On My Watch!

Well folks seems like President Trump's been trying to pull a fast one District 13 style on our federal workforce. Word on the street is he's been itching to slash jobs and shake up government agencies faster than you can say 'rebellion.' Apparently he thinks he's running the Capitol and federal workers are just tributes ripe for the reaping. But hold your mockingjays because a judge has stepped in. And about time! It looks like this judge Susan Illston is about to become my new favorite person. Although she has a bit to go before replacing Haymitch.

The Executive Order Games: A New Kind of Hunger Games

This whole mess started with an executive order which sounds innocent enough right? Like a grocery list or something. But no this one was a thinly veiled threat to start a 'critical transformation' of the federal bureaucracy. Which in Trump speak apparently means 'mass firings.' He probably thought he could just snap his fingers and poof jobs gone agencies reshuffled. Like he's got some kind of Gamemaker control panel for the entire country. But hey at least the Capitol only made us fight to the death this guy just wants us all unemployed... progress?

Unions Strike Back: Remember Who the Real Enemy Is

Thankfully the unions bless their collective hearts aren't taking this lying down. They along with some cities states and counties have filed a lawsuit faster than Peeta can bake a loaf of bread. They're arguing that Trump can't just waltz in and start dismantling the government without asking Congress nicely first. Which let's be honest is a valid point. Even Snow had to at least pretend to follow the rules occasionally.

The 9th Circuit Games Begins: Second Verse Same as the First?

Of course Trump's team isn't exactly thrilled about this whole 'obeying the law' thing. They've already appealed the decision and now they're running to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and I bet they'll go to the Supreme Court next. It's like watching a never ending Hunger Games except instead of fighting for survival federal workers are fighting to keep their jobs. May the odds be ever in their favor because they're gonna need it.

Executive Privilege Darling: A Capitol Trick?

The Solicitor General bless his heart is claiming that this whole thing is a violation of 'executive privilege'. They also complain it's forcing the disclosure of 'sensitive documents'. Oh the horror! It's like they're afraid someone might actually find out what they're planning. Next they'll be claiming that government workers have 'lifetime employment,' which is almost as ridiculous as Caesar Flickerman's wardrobe. Can you imagine? No matter how bad you do you can't get fired? Must be nice. I bet the people in District 12 would have loved to have that guarantee.

Hope Survives: Plant a Seed of Hope

Look I'm not gonna lie this whole situation is messed up. But just like we learned in the arena even when things seem hopeless there's always a chance to fight back. This court order is a small victory a glimmer of hope in the darkness. And as long as we keep fighting as long as we keep planting those seeds of rebellion maybe just maybe we can keep this administration from turning the entire country into one big messed up Hunger Games.
