Despite protests calming down, the Trump administration is deploying more troops to Los Angeles, sparking legal battles and raising eyebrows higher than Haymitch after a bottle of grog.

May the Odds Be Ever NOT In Our Favor

Alright folks Katniss Everdeen here your friendly neighborhood Mockingjay reporting from what feels like another Hunger Games arena – only this time instead of reaping kids they're deploying troops. President Trump because subtlety is apparently a forgotten word is sending an extra 2,000 National Guard members to Los Angeles. Yes you heard right. More troops. Because what this city really needs is more men in uniform not say affordable housing or a decent cup of coffee that doesn't cost a fortune. You know real problems that real people face daily.

Curfew? What Curfew? (And Who Needs It?)

Now Mayor Karen Bass bless her heart already lifted the nighttime curfew because get this it worked. Imagine that! A sensible solution actually doing its job. She said it protected businesses and communities from 'bad actors.' I've dealt with bad actors – President Snow anyone? – and I'm pretty sure they don't respond to curfews. But hey what do I know? I just survived two Hunger Games and a rebellion. Maybe I should run for office...

4,800 Shades of Gray (Uniforms That Is)

So we're up to 4,800 troops in LA. 700 Marines and 4,100 National Guard. They're here to 'protect federal functions personnel and property.' Translation: they're here to make a show of force. Because nothing says 'stable society' like a small army patrolling the streets. It's all very... Capitol esque isn't it? All the fancy parades and propaganda.

Hegseth's Hot Takes: 'District Courts? Never Heard of 'Em'

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth the man who apparently skipped Civics class defended the troop deployment at a Senate hearing. He said the troops were 'defending our federal agents.' From what exactly? Peaceful protesters? Paper cuts? When Senator Elizabeth Warren dared to ask if he'd deploy troops to other cities he clammed up faster than Peeta when he's trying to hide a loaf of bread from me. He then said that he does not think “district courts should be determining national security policy” so much for the constitution eh?

The Court of Appeals: Siding With Caesar (I Mean Trump)

And because things couldn't get any more complicated the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals seems inclined to side with Trump on this whole troop deployment kerfuffle. So the government can pretty much do whatever it wants now? Great. Just great. Next thing you know they'll be bringing back the Hunger Games. Oh wait they already are just in a different form.

Is This the World You Want?

Look I'm no politician but I know injustice when I see it. Sending troops to a city that's already calming down? Ignoring the wishes of local leaders? This isn't about protecting anyone; it's about flexing power. As I always say "If we burn you burn with us!" And right now it feels like things are getting a little too toasty for comfort.
