Another Day Another Hunger Games (But With Paperwork)
Well folks looks like even in this so called 'civilized' world we're still playing the Hunger Games. Only this time instead of arrows and fire it's all about votes and bills and… honestly it's almost as deadly. The Republican leaders in the House are hustling to get this mega bill of President Trump’s passed by Wednesday. Honestly it sounds like something President Snow would cook up – all shiny and promising on the outside but probably poisonous on the inside.
The Senate's 'Squeaky' Win
Apparently the Senate barely managed to drag this thing across the finish line. Vice President JD Vance had to step in and break the tie. A tie! You’d think adults could make decisions without needing a coin flip but apparently not. Makes you wonder if they're choosing tributes or deciding on policies. Either way someone's probably getting reaped.
House of Cards (and Very Slim Margins)
Now Speaker Mike Johnson has to wrangle the House. He can only afford to lose three votes. Three! That's like trying to sneak past a pack of Peacekeepers with a stolen loaf of bread. One wrong step and you're done for. And as of this morning over a dozen Republicans were still saying ‘no.’ Talk about a rebellion brewing.
Déjà Vu All Over Again
Apparently Representatives Massie and Davidson are already a ‘no’ – they voted against the House version back in May. Johnson managed to bribe… I mean *persuade* some folks last time. But any more changes now and they have to send the whole mess back to the Senate. Which means the self imposed July 4th deadline is looking about as likely as me winning the lottery. And let's be honest I'm not known for my luck outside of arenas and well... surviving.
Mother Nature Joins the Fray (Because Why Not?)
As if internal squabbling wasn't enough Mother Nature decided to throw in some storms. Flights delayed cancellations everywhere. Sounds like someone's trying to stop this bill from happening. Maybe Gale is up there messing with the weather machine. Or maybe it’s just bad luck which as we know I have plenty of experience with.
White House Arm Twisting: The Final Act?
Word on the street is the White House is meeting with House Republicans trying to strong arm those hardliners. Sounds familiar doesn’t it? Just like President Snow trying to 'reason' with the districts. I bet they're offering promises they can't keep just like the Capitol always does. Let’s see if these folks are as easily swayed as some of the folks back in District 12. Stay tuned because this is far from over. Remember "It isn't over until the Mockingjay sings."
