Boeing reports a delivery increase, but can they keep it together? I, Iron Man, investigate with my usual dose of sarcasm and brilliance.

Houston We Have... Slightly Less of a Problem?

Alright people let's talk Boeing. They delivered 60 airplanes last month. Sixty! That's... well it's more than zero which is always a good start. Apparently it's their best performance since December 2023. You remember back before the whole 'door as projectile' incident. JARVIS remind me to patent 'self repairing airplane' technology. It's clearly needed.

737 Max: From Zero to (Cautiously Optimistic) Hero

Forty two of those deliveries were the 737 Max. Yes THAT 737 Max. The one that's been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Southwest Alaska and United are still buying them. Guess they haven't seen my suit in action – now THAT’S reliable transportation. But hey progress is progress even if it’s baby steps. Pepper would be proud… maybe.

Ortberg's Optimism: Is It Just Hot Air?

CEO Kelly Ortberg is saying all the right things about improving production and quality. He sounds confident. I'm detecting a JARVIS level of calculation in his voice. He's even talking about hitting 42 jets a month. The FAA however still needs to sign off on them going above 38. Bureaucracy gotta love it. Makes me want to unleash a repulsor blast... responsibly of course.

Q2: Not Terrible But Still a Long Way to Go

Boeing delivered 150 airplanes in the second quarter. Their best since 2018 which was before the whole 'planes falling out of the sky' phase. Let's hope this isn't a case of 'too little too late'. I mean even I have bad days but at least my bad days don't involve gravity taking the express route.

Orders and Backlogs: A Numbers Game

They booked 116 gross orders in June but after cancellations it's down to 70 net. It's like ordering a pizza and then realizing you're on a diet. Their backlog is at 5,953. That's a lot of planes to build! I could probably whip them up faster in my workshop… with a little less risk of mid air surprises.

Judgment Day: July 29th

Mark your calendars folks! July 29th is when Boeing reports their Q2 financial results. Investors will be sweating over Ortberg's production plans. Will they deliver? Or will they crash and burn? I'd place my bets but I'm too busy saving the world and looking impossibly handsome. As always.
