A Change in the Winds Savvy?

Well blow me down! It appears the good ship 'American Economy' might just be righting itself. Seems these landlubbers were fretting about inflation a nasty beast indeed but the New York Federal Reserve bless their number crunching souls says their fears have lessened in May. Down to 3.2% they say a .4 percentage point decrease and I say that's worth a flagon of rum!

Trump's Tango with Tariffs: A Pirate's Wager

Ah Trump! A name that stirs more controversy than a Kraken in a bathtub. Seems his saber rattling about tariffs had these folk in a tizzy. A 10% tariff on all U.S. imports? Madness! But like a pirate changing course mid battle he's eased off opting for a 90 day parley. Let's hope he's got more up his sleeve than just a handful of sand. After all why is the rum always gone?

Good Tidings from the Crow's Nest

Now I’m no economist mind you. My expertise lies more in escaping certain death and charming the occasional governor's daughter but even I can see this is good news. The White House is puffing out its chest claiming inflation is lower than a snake's belly. And by every measure they say its down by more than its been in four years. It seems the winds are changing eh?

Inflation's Siren Song: Still a Ways to Go

Hold your horses mateys! Before we start celebrating with a full blown pirate shindig let's remember that 2% annual target the Fed has set. We're still above that but at least we're heading in the right direction. It's like trying to find Isla de Muerta without a compass; you might wander aimlessly for a bit but eventually you hope to stumble upon treasure. Or rum. Preferably rum.

Grub Grog and Gold: A Pirate's Priorities

Of course there's always a catch. Seems folks still expect food prices to rise more than a tide under a full moon. But gas prices are easing and the outlook for other expenses seems less grim. And better yet fewer people are worried about losing their jobs. Now that's something to toast to! *Raises imaginary tankard* Why is the rum always gone?!

A Pirate's Confidence: Stocks Ahoy!

Shiver me timbers even folks have some confidence in the stock market! A whole 36.3% expect it to be higher in a year. So there you have it! Maybe just maybe the 'American Economy' isn't as doomed as we thought. But I'll still be keeping a weather eye out for trouble and of course a keen nose for rum. Savvy?
