Yo Check It! Cruise Lines Got the Blues?
Alright y'all Fresh Prince comin' at ya live from... well not a yacht sadly. Word on the street or should I say the high seas is that the cruise industry's feelin' a little less 'smooth sailing' and a little more 'stuck in rush hour on the 405'. Norwegian Cruise Line? They're seeing some 'choppiness' in bookings. Apparently Uncle Phil ain't the only one who gets a little skittish when traveling far from home!
Bookings Are Down! I Repeat Bookings Are Down!
Their CEO Harry Sommer told CNBC that American consumers are gettin' cold feet about those European getaways. I get it! Europe's cool and all but have you SEEN the size of the portions at Bel Air barbecue? Tough choice man tough choice. Norwegian's stock took a nosedive faster than Carlton at a dance off down over 7%. Ouch! Revenue's lookin' a little light too.
Don't Worry Be Happy?
But hold up! Before you start sellin' your Hawaiian shirts the cruise lines are tryin' to keep their chins up. They're sayin' that even when the economy's doin' the funky chicken people still wanna escape. And cruises? They're supposed to be the budget friendly option! Like gettin' a five star meal for the price of a In N Out burger. "Parents just don't understand!" They are trying to find savings via currency rates and fuel prices.
Royal Caribbean's Keepin' It Real... Mostly
Royal Caribbean's CEO Jason Liberty admitted they're "certainly not immune to macro volatility." Translation: they're not livin' on Mars they see what's goin' on. But they're also sayin' folks are still droppin' Benjamins on experiences. Good for them! Gotta spend that paper.
86% Booked?!? Is That a Lot?
Royal Caribbean is braggin' they're 86% booked through the end of 2025. That's like almost two years from now! Seems like a good thing. Kinda like when Geoffrey actually manages to clean the pool without fallin' in. Still stock is down. What is going on here??
Take Vacations! It's a Right!
The moral of the story? Even when times get tough people gotta get away. Vacations are a "God given right," according to Norwegian's CEO. And who am I to argue with divine intervention? So go ahead book that cruise! Just maybe wait for a sale. You know ballin' on a budget Fresh Prince style!
