Yo Netflix Ain't About That Theatrical Life!

Alright listen up y'all! Will Smith aka the Fresh Prince comin' at ya live from the 90210 with the lowdown on Netflix. Now these cats at Netflix they ain't interested in rollin' to the movie theaters. Nope! They think that whole theatrical thing is like totally 'outdated.' Outdated! Can you believe it? It's like sayin' jazz ain't cool no more. What they DO want is to keep bringing in big shot directors like Martin Scorsese and Spike Lee to make movies just for their streaming service. Talk about keepin' it exclusive am I right?

Hollywood's Big Names Doin' the Netflix Shuffle

So all these big time directors are makin' flicks for Netflix without even gettin' a real movie theater run. I'm talkin' Greta Gerwig Rian Johnson Kathryn Bigelow – the whole shebang! They're all jumpin' on the Netflix bandwagon even though they love the big screen. Netflix gives 'em fat stacks and creative freedom plus a gigantic audience of over 300 million subscribers. Makes you wanna holler right? It's like Uncle Phil handing me the keys to the Bentley...except it's a movie deal not a car. As that one analyst guy said "Netflix offers filmmakers is an irresistible combination of deep financial pockets and wide creative latitude".

Why Bother with the Box Office Anyway?

For years people been askin' "Netflix why you gotta be so rude? Why you gotta ditch the movie theaters?" Some studies say folks are more likely to stream a movie if it's been in theaters first. But Ted Sarandos the co CEO he ain't budgin'. He says Netflix is all about givin' content to its subscribers ASAP. No time for waitin' around for some theatrical window. Plus they're savin' a boatload on marketing costs by skipping the theaters. Word to your mother! It's all about those Benjamins baby.

It's All About the Views Baby!

Netflix ain't countin' dollars at the box office; they're countin' views. Like the movie 'The Electric State' got streamed by 25.2 million subscribers in its first three days. That's a lot of eyeballs even if it ain't breakin' records like 'Red Notice.' What's even better they get to skip a whole bunch of movie theater marketing costs.

Netflix: Where Directors Can Live Their Best Lives

Alright so why are these big shot directors ditchin' the theaters? Netflix gives 'em the freedom to make the movies they wanna make without some studio breathing down their necks. Remember 'The Irishman'? Studios passed on that because of the budget but Netflix stepped in and bam! Ten Oscar nominations. Maybe not the wins but still that is how you do it. So Netflix is just out there being an awesome place for filmmakers.

Wall Street's Cool With It

And guess what? Wall Street ain't even trippin'! Netflix stock is flyin' high and they're expected to drop around $18 billion on content this year. That's more money than I've spent on sneakers and that's saying something! All this means is that if you want to keep watching those high quality streaming movies you gotta keep paying up. Netflix might raise prices on ya! As that Fishman analyst said "If Netflix keeps creating content from top tier creators then the analyst firm expects prices to increase."
