Meta: I Have Spoken... To The Market!
A Mando doesn't usually follow market trends but even I couldn't ignore the buzz around Meta. Shares jumped higher than a Mythosaur out of a mud pit after they dropped some numbers that even Kuiil would approve of. Seems Meta's been doing some serious bounty hunting in the ad revenue sector bringing in more credits than a Beskar shipment from Mandalore.
This Is The Way... To Higher Revenue!
First quarter revenues hit $42.31 billion a solid 16% jump. That's like finding a full crate of pristine Phase Pulse Ammunition when you're down to your last shot. And the earnings? $6.43 per share. Let’s just say it's enough to make you forget about that time you had to pawn your Amban Phase pulse Blaster for fuel money. Even Zuckerberg sounds confident saying they’re ‘well positioned to navigate the macroeconomic uncertainty.’ Must be using a better nav system than some of the clunkers I’ve seen.
The De Minimist Trade Loophole: I Can Bring You In Warm... Or I Can Bring You In Cold.
Now there's talk about President Trump's tariff impacting ad spending. Even Snap and Google are feeling the pinch. Meta's finance chief Susan Li mentioned 'reduced spend in the U.S. from Asia based e commerce exporters,' stemming from the de minimis trade loophole ending. Look I'm no economist but less spending sounds like fewer credits for everyone. Time to start hoarding those Imperial credits again just in case.
AI: Our New Armour Is Made Of Algorythms!
Meta is betting big on AI. They're upping their capital expenditures to a range of $64 billion to $72 billion for data centers and hardware. It's like upgrading from Durasteel armour to Beskar. Bernstein's Mark Shmulik calls it a 'bold strategy.' Bold maybe but sometimes you gotta take risks to survive in this galaxy.
The Dodgeball Team: I'm Part Of A Creed.
Bernstein's Mark Shmulik calls Meta the "safest and most exciting dodgeball team around." It seems they have a plan to dodge all the rocks that are incoming from the market. I like that. It makes me think that maybe they have something to bring to the table and I would like to see what it is.
This Is The Way... To More Beskar!
So Meta's making credits investing in AI and bracing for economic storms. Sounds like they're doing alright for themselves. As for me I'll stick to hunting bounties and keeping Grogu safe. But it's good to know someone out there is making sure the galaxy (or at least its ad revenue) keeps spinning. This is the way... to keep the lights on in the Razor Crest.
